Greetings families, today is one of the days that all children look forward to. The costumes, the candy, the fun times going through the neighborhood. Tomorrow, Friday, I am sure students will have a lot of stories to share during their class morning meeting time. I have one request for the day after Halloween, Friday. Please limit the amount of candy that students bring for lunch and snack. One or two pieces of candy is quite sufficient. We have reminded our students to not share candy in light of the ingredients and students’ allergies.
Unexcused Absences, what are they?
“An "unexcused absence" means that a student has failed to attend the majority of hours or periods in an average school day, has failed to comply with a more restrictive school district policy on absences, or has failed to comply with alternative learning experience program attendance requirements.”
When this occurs you have several ways to clear up the unexcused absence.
Using Parent Square
You can send a Parent Square message to Saltar’s Point Elementary.
You can respond to the Parent Square message that is sent in the morning. Simply open the message and click “Send Note to School”. Enter the reason for your student’s absence then click “Submit”.
Calling the School
You may also call the school at 253-983-2600 to clear up an unexcused absence.
When you leave your message please include the following:
Students full name
The date you are calling about.
The reason for the absence.
Your name and phone number.

As a reminder we are starting to see more rainy days, please make sure that your student dresses appropriately for the weather. Our health room is extremely limited in clothing and may not be able to provide a change of clothes. Students may keep a change of clothes in their backpacks, as needed.

Hi Otter Families!
The PTA is hard at work fulfilling requests from our fall round of classroom grant applications and recovering from a great recess takeover!
We look forward to November with a full slate of events. We can't make our events happen without volunteer support! Please follow us on facebook, the school newsletter, and our membership newsletters to stay up-to-date on volunteer opportunities. It's never too late to join the PTA!
November includes many exciting events like our next recess takeover, a school-wide movie night, and a special opportunity to say thank you to our teachers and staff with cider and special seasonal treats. Mark your calendars and keep an eye out for links to sign up in the next few weeks!

If your student has a fine/fee or if you want to put money on their lunch account you can pay online through https://wa-steilacoom.intouchreceipting.com/signin.
If your student has a lost book(s), the fine can be removed either from payment, finding and returning the book(s), or replacing the book.
