Message from Officer Garcia
Hello Bulldog Parents!
I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable summer. Welcome back to the 2024-2025 school year. Many of you may remember me from last school year with Adolphus Elementary. Let me introduce myself to those who are new to the school and/or the district. There will also be some added safety tips and new parking information for the upcoming year.
My name is Officer Jaime Garcia, and I am a Lamar CISD Police Department Police Officer. I am currently assigned to Adolphus Elementary School for this coming school year. I have been in law enforcement for 18 years which includes 2 ½ years as a police dispatcher, 10 ½ years as a patrol officer, and 5 years as a school resource officer. Becoming a school resource officer was the best decision for myself and my career. I have worked three years on a middle school (6-8th grade) campus, a year on a high school (9-12th grade) campus, and one year on an elementary (PK-5th grade) campus.
One of my goals being a police officer for the school district is being a positive influence for our future leaders. Another is to take my experiences from being a patrol officer and educating our youth to prepare them for their future. Lastly, building a rapport with the students, parents, and staff is important especially when being involved with our youth. It takes a village to raise a child and at the end of the day we are all here with the same goal: to educate and prepare them for their future. I believe in humanizing the badge, so here are some facts about me: I graduated Lamar Consolidated High School in 2005. I have been in law enforcement since I was 18 years old. I am married with three adult stepdaughters. We have three dogs named Penelope, Reba, and our newest addition, Cowboy. I love running and I am training for the 2025 Chevron Marathon; it will be my first full. I am going back to school to finish what I started almost 20 years ago and getting a BS in Forensic Psychology. I was in a Houston Texans commercial in 2016 that aired all football season.
When I started at Adolphus last school year, the morning traffic drop off was extremely busy and at times unsafe. On the roadway, I observed a lot of traffic congestion due to vehicles stopping on the side of the roadway to walk their students to the front doors. This caused traffic backups at intersections, drivers getting angry who are just driving through, and vehicles and people almost getting hit. There were people letting students off on the side of West Bellfort and pulling back into the roadway, almost causing crashes. Ms. Boarman and I worked last school year with the district, Fort Bend County Road and Bridge, and Fort Bend County Engineering to get a crosswalk painted at the intersection of Winston Ranch Parkway at Herons Terrace along with “No parking, standing, stopping” signs around the school. The crosswalk was painted after Spring Break and the signs were placed in mid-April.
Any sign posted by a state, county, or municipal department are enforceable by any peace officer in the State of Texas the moment they are posted. There is no grace period as it is the driver’s responsibility to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings and signage posted. Due to the constant change of traffic towards the end of the school year, I gave verbal warnings to those who were parking in the area where the signs were posted. As we start this new school year, Lamar CISD Police Department, which includes me or any other LCISD Officer, will begin enforcing the posted signage around Adolphus Elementary School. I will also be in contact with Fort Bend County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office as well. I have attached a picture of the area to show where the signs are posted.
Remember this is for the safety of your students, our staff, and any other person driving or walking through the area of Adolphus Elementary School. Yes, this is a big inconvenience to most people who park and walk their child or simply drop them off to walk up to the school, but it’s for the safety of everyone.
Here are a few safety tips:
- Give yourself extra time these first few weeks of school as traffic will be slower than normal as people get back into their routine.
- When exiting the school parking lot during morning drop off, DO NOT hold up traffic to turn left. Turn right only to keep the car rider line flowing as the people behind you may have somewhere to be just like you.
- If you park in the neighborhood to walk your student, remember to park as close to the curb as possible with your vehicle facing the direction of the flow of traffic.
- Do not block a driveway or an entrance ramp on a crosswalk.
- When walking through a crosswalk, DO NOT walk into the intersection until the crossing guard verbally tells you to do so. They are there to make sure traffic comes to a complete stop, making it safe for you and your students.
- The roadway on Winston Ranch Parkway is wide enough to utilize during morning traffic as two lanes. Keep the “inside” lane as the line for drop off and the “outside” lane open for vehicles trying to get around the school traffic.
- Remind your students to stand a few feet away from the curb when waiting at the crosswalk so they do not chance getting hit as cars get very close to the curbs when turning or driving by.
- Go the speed limit. Please slow down. We are all in a hurry at times, but the life of the person walking is someone’s loved one and we want to make sure they are safe.
- Remember DO NOT stop on the crosswalk or in the intersection as that is a traffic violation and could result in a citation also.
- BE PATIENT!!!
I look forward to a great school year with everyone. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns that I can try to help address. Be safe and have a great first week!
Thank you,
Officer J. Garcia

Student Field Trip Spirit Shirt
This year our theme is Safari to Success, and we have a cute shirt for our students to purchase. These will also be the shirts students should wear on their field trip later this year. We will also have monthly "Safari to Success" Spirit Days when everyone wears this shirt to school to show school pride and unity. Make sure your child gets his/her shirt to join the fun!
Mark Your Calendar
Below are the dates for our ALL OUT House Days where students may wear their House colors from head to toe...tutus, glasses, hats, headbands, wigs, painted hair...etc!
On all other Fridays, students should simply wear their House t-shirt.
Canvas Parent Guide
Our district utilizes Canvas as a communication tool between school and home. Use this link to access the directions.
Standardized Dress at Adolphus
We have a standardized dress code at Adolphus that includes shorts. Any shorts worn by boys or girls must be mid-thigh length or longer. Some parents have expressed that it is hard to find shorts for girls, in particular, that come to at least mid-thigh. Below is an image and an attachment that has some options that appear to be appropriate for our standardized dress code. If you choose to order any of these, please verify they are truly at the acceptable length. This was created in effort to assist parents with buying options. I hope it helps!

Attendance Information
Please see the important attendance information below.
Car Rider Procedures
Please review these car rider procedures to make sure you are "in the know".
Front Parking Lot Procedure During Morning Arrival
For safety reasons, we kindly request that all school-aged children be dropped off at the car rider line, where our safety patrol will assist. Parents needing to visit the front office may park after dropping off their children. Please note that the parking lot will be closed during morning arrival.
Transportation
All parents will choose one mode of dismissal transportation for their child to follow daily. We strongly encourage all parents to refrain from calling the front office for transportation changes this year unless it is an absolute need. Students do best when they have one consistent routine when going home, so we want to minimize changes as much as possible.
Please know that changing to bus transportation requires a 5 school day notice.
Though we have a solid system for managing the changes, there is a greater opportunity for mistakes because it is a change of routine. The last thing we want is confusion with your child getting home. Safety is our top concern. :-)
Lunch Visitation
To ensure every parent has a chance to visit when they desire, we kindly ask that visits be limited to once per month. This also gives your child the opportunity to develop social skills by interacting with classmates during lunch. Walk-in visitors will be welcome if there is space available in the sign-up.
Adolphus Lunch Visitor Sign-up
When signing-up, make sure to select the total quantity in your group (including the student). For example, if mom and dad are visiting, select 3 for the quantity to include the student and both visitors. Include the student's name in the comments.
Due to spacing, a maximum of 12 visitors are permitted for each grade level lunch. Please limit 2 visitors per student.
Please review the reminders below:
1. On the day reserved, come 5 minutes early and bring your driver's license/state issued ID.
2. You will only be allowed to eat with your student.
3. Lunch visitors may ONLY be in the main hallway & café parent room during your student's lunch period. No visitors in the classroom or playground.
Label Jackets/Sweaters
Set Your Child up for Success!
The students need to be through the front doors by 7:15 in order to not be counted tardy. If you arrive at 7:15 or after, your child will need to enter the main doors of the school to go through the front office to get their tardy slip. That is never a fun way to start their day, so please help get them to school ready for learning by 7:05 AM. :-)
All students in their seats will receive a Dojo point as an incentive to arrive at this time.
No Cell Phone Use in School Zones
The use of cell phones within school zones is prohibited (unless used with a hands-free device) under Section 545.425 of the Texas Transportation Code.
In the past few months, Mrs. Boarman has seen several parents texting and talking on the phone (not hands free) while in the school zone. This is against the law, and you may receive a ticket for this offense. Please partner with us to keep YOUR kids safe!
