One of Compass’ favorite nights is returning on Friday January 24th…Bingo Night! This will be a fun-filled family event in the Compass gym. Doors open at 5:30, the games start at 6:30pm. Eat at Chipotle on Monday, February 3 at 4 - 8 PM and a portion of the proceeds go to PCHS FBLA. Thank you for your support!
You may want to call ahead, order through the app, or online. The lines can be long at Chipotle and this could save you time. Attached are instructions on how to order through the app and/or online and still participate in the fundraiser.
"Make dinner a selfless act by joining us for a fundraiser to support Platte County FBLA. Come in to the Chipotle at 8600 N Boardwalk in Kansas City on Monday, February 3 between 4:00pm and 8:00pm. Bring in this flyer, show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier you’re supporting the cause to make sure a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Platte County FBLA."
Yearbook Orders!
Starting Feb 3rd you will be able to log onto your parent portal and order yearbooks. The order form will be open until Mar 7th.

The Junior Library Guild National Library Week theme for 2025 is “ Drawn to the Library!” and they need your readers’ artistic skills to help celebrate…
From January 1 to March 6, readers are encouraged to submit their very own JLG bookmark design!
To participate, have your child pick up a blank Bookmark Template in the Library! Return the finished bookmark to Mrs. Coldren for submission.
Rules Contest Winners
Designs will be judged by members of the JLG Team—as this is a staff favorite! — and while artistic skill will be considered, we are more interested in what your readers have to say. Encourage your readers to let their ideas flow and interpret the book however they find it meaningful!
3 winners will be chosen from each age group: elementary, middle, and high school.
Winning libraries will be contacted via email in April. Follow JLB on social media on social media for updates!

Many have only emailed Dawn however if Dawn is absent, the office does not get the message.

Treasure Chest
The PCR-3 Treasure Chest is a stocked resource center providing food, milk, and toiletries for PCR-3 students and families in need. Qualifying families will receive a weekly form via email to sign up or can call 816-858-7001 for assistance.
Families will receive an email with approval to come to the Treasure Chest on Wednesdays from 4-6pm at the new Treasure Chest site (south side of Paxton building).
Winter Weather Planning
Please visit the Winter Weather Information page on the Parents Tab of the District website for information on recess and clothing considerations (there will be no outdoor recess when the wind chill is at 20 degrees or below), cancellations, two-hour delayed starts, how the District will notify families, and Y-Club info.
In the event of school cancellation or delayed start, PCR-3 will get that information out as early as possible through automated phone calls and text messages, the District website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, the District Hotline (816-858-2752), and local media. Parents: To opt in to receive texts, please text the word "YES" to 67587.
For the 2024-25 school year, PCR-3 will implement Inclement Weather Virtual Learning Days for the first five canceled school days. These days will not need to be made up. Any additional canceled school days may be waived, or may need to be made up (added to the academic calendar). Click here for details on our Inclement Weather Virtual Learning Days.
Y-Club- Before and After School Care at Compass
YMCA Y-Club enrollment is underway for the new school year!
The Before and After School Program available to families in the Platte County R-3 School District is Y Club. With Y Club before and after school, children in kindergarten through 5th grade will enjoy and benefit from homework enrichment, physical activity, and small and large group activities with a focus on building community and youth voice and leadership. Full-time and part-time Y Club is available at Compass, along with Y Club on days when school is out of session for inclement weather, seasonal breaks, and other days off (enrollment permitting). Operating hours are each weekday from 6:30 a.m. until school begins, and again after school until 6:00 p.m.
Spots are limited so please complete the 24-25 Y Club Enrollment Form at KansasCityYMCA.org/Yclub to secure your spot.

Zero Rate Change Bond Issue, Informational Meetings
This question will be placed on the April 8, 2025 ballot. If approved by voters, the approximately $62 million bond issue would fund the following projects identified in the District’s Long-Range Facility Plan:
- Completing Phase 2 of rebuilding Platte County High School, creating a consolidated high school building with all classrooms and programs under one roof
- Constructing site amenities at Platte Purchase Middle School activities complex
- Constructing playground facilities at Pathfinder Elementary
- Expanding parking and improving traffic flow and safety at Compass Elementary

Breakfast & Lunch Information
Above is the sign up for parents/guardians to log in to your student's lunch/breakfast account. On this app, you can customize your student's amount of money spent as we are going to start ala cart options soon. You can also put money into your student's account. It will also send you notifications that your student is low on their lunch/breakfast balance.
