Title I- School Parent Compacts, School Parent Compact Signature Sheets, and the came home this week! Please be sure to take a moment and review these documents with your scholars. Also please take a moment to sign the School Parent Compact Signature page and return it to school as soon as possible! Our goal is to have 100% of our compacts returned by the end of the month! All of these items can also be found on our school website!

We’re launching a new health services program, and we want to make sure your family has access to these services all year long. Our school is hosting an Awareness Campaign to ensure 100% of families learn about our new student health services from Hazel Health. With parent or guardian permission, students can speak with a Hazel mental health professional right from school or at home. On-demand medical visits are currently available at home and at school!

Mental health services include:

• Scheduled short-term therapy visits: No waitlist for scheduled therapy sessions for coping with everything from anxiety, depression, and grief to peer and family relationships and bullying
• Care management to local resources: Referrals to local providers for continuity of care

• Coordination: Communication with families, local health providers, and school staff

On-demand physical health services include:

• Medical treatment: For stomach aches, headaches, sprained ankles, asthma concerns, and everything in between
• Medication: Hazel providers can send prescriptions to your pharmacy
• Coordination: With family physician and return to school communications

Please note, Hazel Health will not provide care related to sexual or reproductive health. In addition, Hazel cannot complete sports or annual physicals and cannot administer vaccinations.

On October 5, 2022, and October 6, 2022, 7th grade students participated in a field trip to the Atlanta History Center. It was a great experience for the students to “travel” back in time to explore aspects of Georgia farm life. Students had the opportunity to see blacksmithing and woodworking demonstrations as well as learn more about gardening and farm animals. They also received a tour of the Smith family house and an enslaved cabin. During the tours, the tour guides discussed the lifestyle of the Smith family and the living conditions of enslaved persons during that time-period. Students were engaged during the field trip, asked questions, and had an opportunity to examine some of the artifacts on display.

2. What can I do at home to help support my scholar?
3. How are my scholars' test-taking skills?
4. Is my scholar participating in your class?
5. Has my scholar missed any classes other than excused absences?
