A Note From the Principal
Dear parents and Guardians,
As the flowers bloom and the days grow longer, we find ourselves rapidly approaching the end of another enriching school year at LSH. This month is packed with events and milestones that celebrate the hard work and achievements of our students.
Firstly, I want to extend a huge congratulations to our Spring sports teams who have shown exceptional dedication and spirit this season. Let’s continue to support our athletes at their games and cheer them on to finish strong.
As we move closer to the culmination of the school year, our calendar is bustling with activities. From final projects and exams to celebrations and gatherings, each event is an opportunity to reflect on the year and look forward to new beginnings. I encourage all students to stay engaged and finish strong—it’s a critical time for setting the stage for future success.
The excitement is particularly palpable among our seniors, who are preparing for one of life’s significant milestones—graduation. This event is not just a celebration of academic achievements, but also of personal growth and the resilience each student has demonstrated throughout their educational journey. Graduation day will surely be a joyous occasion for our students, staff, and families, marking both an ending and a new beginning.
Let’s embrace this busy and joyful time together. Here’s to a fantastic end to the school year and to all the promising ventures our futures hold!
With GIANT PRIDE,
Cindy Schmidt

Supporting Students Through Academics
This is an opportunity for students to receive support from teachers for relearning, homework help, missing or late work, and/or assessment retakes. Students who are struggling are highly encouraged to attend. Our main focus is to provide time and support from teachers for students who are receiving a grade of a "D" or below, although ALL students are welcome.
Students who are requested to attend will be notified in the following ways:
- Parents and students being requested will receive an email from the student's RISE teacher informing them of the request 2-3 days prior to the date.
- Students will be notified by their RISE teacher of the classes/teachers requesting their presence for relearning opportunities in class and through email.
- Students will be requested for all classes in which they are receiving a "D" or below.
Expectations:
- Students are welcome to stay after school.
- Students who are not taking advantage of the support time or are being disruptive will be asked to leave.
- Students are asked to stay only as long as is necessary to complete requests from teachers until 5:30 pm.
- Students will need their own transportation home.
Our goal is to help each student be successful by providing a positive learning experience.

Statewide Testing Reporting Redesign Survey is Open – Your Voice Matters!
The Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) is excited to launch the Statewide Testing Redesign Survey. Your voice and the perspectives of your community are important to this effort as new academic standards are adopted in science, reading, and math, along with new assessments. The survey asks about how you receive, interpret and use statewide assessment results. Your feedback will help MDE ensure the results from the new assessments students take beginning in spring 2025 are as clear and useful as possible.
The Statewide Testing Redesign Survey is now open for responses until May 19. It should take no longer than 15 minutes. Responses will be completely anonymous.
Additionally, MDE is hoping individuals in these groups will share their perspective:
- Students in grades 8–12
- Families of students in grades K–12
- Classroom educators
- School-level leadership staff
- District-level leadership staff
- Assessment coordinators
- Community group members and leaders
- State agency staff
