BOOTH HILL SCHOOL

Principal's Message
👋 Dear Booth Hill Families,
Thank you for heeding our advice about the colder temperatures and added layers for your children! Unfortunately, it's also around this time of year that our Lost and Found bins begin to overflow 😊 Please label clothing and remind your children to leave school with what they came wearing in the morning. We will donate all Lost and Found items to a charitable cause at the end of each month. We will have all items out during conference days for easy identification and pickup. Thank you!
Also, I sent an earlier message through Infinite Campus that I have requested that the first 4 parking spots adjacent to the handicap spots in front of the school be marked for "Visitor". It is a security risk to not have dedicated visitor parking. We want to be able to easily identify those who arrive at our school with every intention to follow the rules from those who intend otherwise. PLEASE, when visiting the school, please use these spots to park. If these spots are filled, please find another parking spot. Parking anywhere in the fire lane is prohibited, no matter how brief your visit may be. There are 4 spots available, even though the signage for "Visitor" is not. Thank you, in advance, for your support in maintaining a secure school environment.
Best regards,
Kevin Chase

Hillcrest Referendum Frequently Asked Questions
On September 25, the community came together for a forum on the "New" Hillcrest building. During the presentation we agreed to create a document that answers questions that we received at the forum and in other communications. Please use the link below to review the FAQ Document. This document provides quite a bit of information about the project and the upcoming referendum.
Halloween Parade
Halloween will be celebrated at Booth Hill School on Wednesday, October 30th. This is a fun time for our students. On Halloween, Kindergarten and First grade students are invited to come to school dressed in costume; while Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth graders can bring a costume that can be put on in their classroom over their clothes. We plan on having a parade at the end of the day on the playground field. This is for students and staff only.
Please know that costumes are OPTIONAL. Costumes cannot be violent in nature. Face paint or scary masks such as the “Evil Jester”, “It”, “Grim Reaper”, “Chucky”, “Scream” or any other costumes that contain blood/scars will not be allowed to be worn. No accessories of any kind are allowed.
Thank you for helping us to keep our students safe, physically and emotionally.

K-12 students in Connecticut have the opportunity to enter the Competition and be awarded a scholarship of up to $20,000 to help pay for their future education! This competition is brought to you by the Connecticut State Treasurer’s Office as Trustee of the Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET).
This year, they will be awarding almost $350,000 in CHET 529 College Savings Plan – Direct Plan (“CHET 529 Direct Plan”) account contributions to students in grades K-12 and technology prizes to schools. For the winning students, we will be awarding:
- Three prizes of $20,000
- 24 prizes of $5,000
- 239 prizes of $500
To enter, students are asked to answer a question by submitting a drawing or painting, essay, or video. Younger students will be asked to answer a question focusing on lessons they’ve learned and their dreams for the future, and older students will be asked about an experience or person that has impacted them and how that will influence their future goals. Submissions must be uploaded by 11:59 p.m. on November 4. There is no cost to enter. For program details, rules and the entry process, visit: www.chetdreambig.com
Downloadable entry forms and flyers are available on the website as well.
A school in your district could be a winner too! Each school that is represented by at least one student’s entry will be eligible for a random drawing for a technology prize worth $5,000 (a total of 10 schools will win a technology prize). Please see the 2024 Competition Official Rules for more information on prize structure and awards.
