Principal's Message
Greeting parents,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year.
During these past two weeks, I had a unique experience that made me see things from a different point of view. I had the chance to travel to Mexico with my wife and children. During this trip, our cellphones and internet were limited due to the area we chose for the vacation. What began as shocking for all of us ended up a blessing. We all have the opportunity to be fully present and enjoy each other without distraction. I noticed that the bond among my children grew stronger during this time. Also, we had the opportunity to look each other in the eye, which we frequently miss nowadays due to the technology devices that keep us connected to the world, but sometimes take time away from our families.
It is incredible how taking the time to be fully present with your loved ones can make a difference. After this experience, I encourage you to invest at least 20-30 minutes daily to connect with your family and be fully present without using technology; you will not regret it.
We will be available during our regular business hours beginning Monday, July 18th, 2022. I am catching up with all emails and feedback this weekend. I have addressed some of the questions in the feedback form already.
Last, I have included the direct link to the Mad Science registration page and the answers to the uniform questions in this newsletter.
If you have questions or comments, please do not hesitate and ask. I will send another email during the week if I get updates when I report to the office.
Kind Regards,
Roberto Gonzalez

2022-2023 Backpacks Policy
Dallas ISD has not made a final decision regarding the backpacks yet, and it was requesting parent feedback before making it.
I will update again when the board approves the final decision.
Uniforms
From the feedback form:
1. Long sleeves will be allowed, and the companies will offer them.
2. The blue shorts were approved.
3. I contacted Land's End and am waiting for their response for a meeting on Monday the 18th.
4. Blazers and ties will be optional in year one.
5. Students will wear the logo daily. There will be some spirit and college days embedded on the calendar. Those days, students may wear spirit and college attire.

Update
Thanks for all the families that have shown interest on the Dual Language. This is the latest information I got from the district:
"We are in the process of finalizing our Dual Language master plan which is a document that details our Dual Language programs, as well as specific information about the Dual Language 2.0 rollout. Once it has been approved and is published, we will be sure and share that with you."
Also, the process of selection could take up to the week before the school begins but for sure it would be before the meet the teacher night. Thanks in advance for your patience as we ensure we have the most accurate data to comply with all state regulations.
Last, I am in the process of scheduling a parent meeting with the District Dual Language Department so they can explain the program to you and answer all your questions. More details as soon as we come back from the break.
