Lincoln Elementary Newsletter
Dear Parents and Guardians of Lincoln Elementary,
As Thanksgiving approaches, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to you, our valued families. Your support, involvement, and partnership mean so much to us, and we’re grateful for the trust you place in us each day. This holiday season, we celebrate the spirit of gratitude and the sense of community we’re fortunate to share with each of you.
Thanksgiving is a time to gather, reflect, and thank for the moments that unite us. Whether watching your child grow, sharing in their milestones, or simply being part of their everyday triumphs, we’re thankful to walk this journey with you and your children. We wish you and your loved ones a joyful, peaceful, and safe holiday filled with warmth and happiness.
A Friendly Reminder: Thanksgiving is also an important season for civic engagement. If you haven’t already, please take the time to make your voice heard by voting in the upcoming elections. Voting is a powerful way to shape our children's and our community's future. Your participation matters, and together, we can make a positive impact.
I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving and a meaningful election season!
Lincoln Votes! 2024 Election!
We are thrilled that our students recently participated in an engaging and educational election experience at school! Our goal was to help students understand the importance of civic duty and the power of their voice in shaping their communities. Through this event, every student had the opportunity to experience the election process firsthand and gain a deeper understanding of democracy in action.
Throughout the process, students learned about the roles of various leaders, the significance of voting, and the importance of informed decision-making. They engaged in discussions, researched candidate platforms, and cast their votes in a mock election, mirroring the process in our nation.
We are proud of our students’ enthusiasm and thoughtfulness in participating. Activities like these build knowledge and foster a sense of responsibility, helping prepare our students to be active, informed citizens in the future.
Exploring Democracy: Polling and the Electoral College in Middle School
Our middle school students took a deep dive into the world of elections, learning about the role of polling and the complexities of the Electoral College. The lesson introduced the key concepts, giving students insight into how votes are counted nationally. They took their knowledge further by creating their country maps based on what they learned!
Mr. Breaeadon modeled an example poster, which sparked students’ creativity. Then, in pairs, they designed maps featuring 15 unique “states,” each with its name and designated number of electoral votes. Each team mapped out electoral vote distributions for two candidates, applying what they learned to simulate a real-world election.
Below are pictures of their outstanding work—creative, thoughtful maps showcasing understanding and teamwork. We’re proud of our students for engaging deeply with this project and look forward to seeing their continued enthusiasm for social studies!

Attendance Matters! Let's Reach 92%!
This academic year, we're working hard to increase our attendance rates from 90% to 92%. To achieve this goal, we're introducing a fun and motivating Battle of the Grade Levels!

Important: Tardy Procedures
To help ensure a smooth start to each school day, please remember the following procedures:
Arrival Time: Students must be in their homeroom by 8:15 a.m. to avoid being marked tardy.
8:15 - 8:30 a.m.: Tardy students will receive a BLUE pass, and teachers should record the tardy in PowerSchool-Attendance.
After 8:30 a.m.: Tardy students must enter through the main office, where they will receive a YELLOW tardy pass. The attendance clerk will log these tardies in PowerSchool-Attendance.
Attendance Consequences: For Kindergarten through 8th-grade students, five tardies will result in After-School Detention. After the 5th tardy:
The teacher should complete a Discipline Referral form through SWIS and and call the parent to notify them.
Submit the referral form to the Assistant Principal for follow-up.

Rocket Blast-Off: Taking Engineering Skills to New Heights!
The Lincoln Flyers STEM Club recently embarked on an exciting engineering adventure, taking science to new heights! On October 22, our club members designed, built, and launched their rockets powered by Alka-Seltzer! The project was a thrilling, hands-on experience, allowing students to dive deep into the science of chemical reactions and propulsion.
Throughout the day, students explored the principles of motion, tweaking their designs with each launch to improve distance, speed, and stability. With each successful blast-off, they discovered new ways to refine their rockets, and the thrill of experimentation kept everyone engaged.
The event was educational and unforgettable, as our young scientists witnessed the power of their creations in real-time. We’re proud of our STEM Club for their innovation and teamwork in making this blast-off a success!
Stay tuned for more exciting projects from the Lincoln Flyers STEM Club—where science and fun take flight!
