Wolverine Weekly - August 22, 2024
As we start a new school year, it is great to be back into the daily routine. We appreciate all the support for the new cell phone policy and we are seeing benefits from that already.
Along with getting into the yearly routine comes the time to revisit our emergency preparedness. On Wednesday we had our first evacuation/fire drill and the students did an excellent job. On Friday we will have our first District-observed Lockdown drill. You may notice a larger than normal law enforcement presence as they assist us in this drill. If you feel like your student needs special attention, please have them speak to their teacher or come to the main office Friday morning and we will work with them on an individual basis.
Thank you for your support.
Always proud to be a member of the Chap family,
The Chaparral Administrative Team
Bathroom Availability
Historically we have experienced unacceptable behavior in the bathroom during class time. In an effort to combat this, only the upper main hall bathrooms are available for student use during class periods. This is partially a result of student complaints. Since the implementation of this process our security team has reported no instances of these behaviors. To meet student needs, during passing periods all bathrooms are open.
August 26-30 is Vogel Week!
This year's Vogel t-shirt was designed by the family of Todd Vogel, Chaparral Administrator who we tragically lost in 2012. To continue his belief that we should "Take care of one-another" we raise funds each year for a scholarship in his name. To support the Todd Vogel Memorial Scholarship fund, T-shirts can be purchased through the finance and athletic windows for $10.
You can also wear your Vogel shirts all week long, attend our athletic events against Grandview and join us on Thursday, August 29 at Lil Ricci's from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Please mention or show this ad to ensure that 15% of sales go to Chaparral High School's Todd Vogel Memorial Scholarship.
Fall PSAT/NMSQT Testing
Chaparral high School will be offering Sophomore and Junior students the opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday, October 9th. This is the only National Merit Qualifying Test for 11th grade students and is the practice test for the mandatory SAT exam given to all Juniors in April. The PSAT and SAT are important tests so the opportunity to practice is extremely beneficial. In order to take advantage of this opportunity, students MUST REGISTER and submit $20 through My School Bucks. Registration is now open and WILL CLOSE at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, September 9th. Since we must submit registration data to CollegeBoard, this is a hard deadline.
Chaparral Athletics
Thank you from Boys Tennis!
Boys tennis had a recording breaking crowd of around 250 people at their match against Legend! They appreciate all the people and teams that showed their support as they won a thriller 4-3.

Community Service Hours
Community Service Information
Hopefully, you are all aware of the 20-hour community service graduation requirement that we have as a District. In the past we have had to track the community service on paper and we are excited to announce that we will be transitioning to the app, Helper Helper. This is a District-wide implementation. As a result we will no longer be using the paper documentation that has been used in the past.
If you have accumulated community service hours and would like to turn them in via paper, the last day to turn in the paper documentation for community service hours is Monday, August 26 at noon.
After August 26 all hours must be submitted through the Helper Helper App.
Students may use their universal log-in for Helper helper. More information will be provided to students via their school email :
