eSports Shout Out- From Mr. Alan
The students and staff had great conversations around careers today. Students got to hear from their teachers the path they took to get where they are. Students were also able to determine which careers would be a good match for them based on their interests, skills and dislikes. We will continue our work on Individual Plans of Study throughout the entire year.
If your child was not able to attend today they will need to complete their Xello work on their own. This would be a great time to have career conversations with your students and work through Xello together!
The link to login is below as well as the information I shared last week around the Individual Plans of Study and why these are important. Thank you to those that have signed up for presenting at our Career Fair. I would love to have a representative from each of the Career Clusters. If you have a chance to take a look at the clusters and your job fits in and you are able to join us for our Career Fair on January 17th please sign up with the form below.
This link is also a great one for exploring careers - hire paths
Regular season competition ended this week and results for post season play were announced this morning. Jefferson West Esports received 13 invitations to compete in the National post season competition!
7 players qualified to play Super Smash Brothers. Michael Enneking, Ledger Brown, Cade Arnold, Jaxon Boswell, and Easton Haid all qualified to play at the highest level and will be competing in the Champions bracket beginning next week. Caden Schuetz, and Evander Gardner have both qualified to play in the Gold Bracket.
In chess 6th grader, Atticus Thomas finished his regular season ranked number 9 in the league and will compete in the champions bracket.
Our Mario Kart team qualified for their third straight appearance in nationals! Abby Downing, Ledger Brown, Caden Schuetz, Cade Arnold, and Easton Haid are all excited to take another shot at the title of nations best!
In more exciting news Ledger Brown has also been selected as a nominee for the K-12 Student Leader of the Year award by the Intercollegiate Esports organization VOICE. Ledger was nominated because he epitomizes what it means to be a young leader. He is talented but humble, has expectations of success but realizes that everyone participates at their own level and never holds that against someone. He encourages others to believe that they can always grow and celebrates every success as if it were his own. Let's cheer him on as the selection process continues!
We had an awesome start to our year, if you see any of these students celebrate with them as they work their way to the championships!
PIES!
Thank you to all who have signed up to donate pies for our school family tradition on Thursday November 21st. We could still use a few more if you are able to bring some in. Here is the link to sign up. Reminder pies need to be already baked prior to dropping off. You can bring things in on Wednesday the 20th or first thing in the morning on Thursday the 21st. We do have students leaving for a field trip this day but ALL students will get to enjoy time with their family before they head to their field trip.
