That's a wrap ladies and gentleman. The first trimester of the 2021-2022 school year has come to an end. Looking back, it is incredible to think about how much we've worked through together- launching in-person learning during a global pandemic, a new mission/vision that meets the moment, growing and learning more about Restorative Justice Practices, leaning into the literacy acceleration plan, and so so so much more. The foundation for a successful second and third trimester has been established, now we build.

Last night you may have received notice from SDUSD that the Board will discuss Tuesday night whether or not to designate Friday, November 12th as a non-instructional day. We will keep you posted with the most up-to-date information as it becomes available.

In two weeks, we've set aside the afternoons for student/family/teacher conferences. At this conference, your student's teacher will review the first trimester report card with you and explain the plan for ensuring they meet or exceed grade level standards by the end of the year. Please note, every day during the week of November 15-19th is a minimum day. School will be dismissed at 12:00PM each day. In preparation for report cards, please set up a PowerSchool Parent Portal account. We are no longer printing report cards and distributing them in person unless requested. Our jog-a-thon this week was a huge success! Thank you Mrs. Paradise for organizing this fun event! Our runners collectively ran 35 miles on Wednesday alone. Our collective total for the year is over 1,300 miles. That's about the distance from Fletcher Elementary School to the Seattle Space Needle! All of our students at Fletcher are incredible. An overwhelming majority come to school each day ready to learn and do the right thing- not for a reward, not to avoid a consequence, but because it's the right thing to do. This space in the Falcon Flyer is now dedicated to highlighting one of these students each week.

Our third Student of the Week this year is Gianna "Gigi" in 1st grade. Gigi is recognized by her teacher for speaking up and advocating for herself and others. She is also an incredible reader! Gigi is friendly to everyone and loves to share about what she reads and knows.

Congratulations Gigi, and thanks for being a phenomenal Falcon!

San Diego Unified School District now has a new testing site for all students and staff. If your student is showing symptoms at home or at school, this new resource will provide a quick and easy way to get test results so they can return to school as soon as possible. Testing will now be available at the Education Center located at 4100 Normal Street, 92103. It's only FIVE MILES away from Fletcher!

The site is open from 7:00AM - 7:00PM MONDAY through FRIDAY and 8:00AM - 5:00PM on Saturday and Sunday. No appointments necessary! Prior to testing, if your student isn't already registered to receive weekly testing on site, families will need to register for a Primary Health Portal account. https://my.primary.health/l/sdusd_testing.

As you know, keeping our students safe, healthy and IN SCHOOL is our #1 priority. To ensure this, we need for ALL families to fill out the COVID-19 Testing forms. Thank you to all who have already filled out these forms. The deadline to submit the forms is September 10.

If you are opting out of COVID testing, we still need you to submit the testing form.
