February News #readytofly

A Note from Mrs. Phillips
Dear Hornet Families/Friends,
As the sunshine begins to return and brighten our days, we look forward to enjoying more time outdoors. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor recess with coats, hats, and gloves as needed. While we embrace the fresh air, we’re also focusing on maintaining a strong work ethic in the classroom and preparing for upcoming state testing. Let’s continue to work together to support our students’ success!
February is the perfect time to spread kindness in our community! Encourage your child to participate in Random Acts of Kindness by helping a neighbor, donating to a local charity, or simply sharing a kind word. Small actions can make a big difference! Let’s work together to create a ripple of positivity this month. Check out Mrs. McCann's RAK challenge here at FC!
We want to ensure safe and efficient transportation for all our students. Please remember that any alternate pick-up or drop-off location requests must be submitted using the alternate transportation forms. Students are not permitted to ride home on a friend’s bus. Emergency contact information must also be updated to ensure we can reach you if needed. Contact forms will be sent home in this week’s Thursday folders—please review and return them promptly to update PowerSchool. Additionally, if you haven’t returned the medical forms sent home last month, please do so as soon as possible.
Attendance is crucial to student success, and our school’s goal is a 95% attendance rate. Please remember to call the office if your child will be absent and provide any necessary doctor’s notes upon their return. Indiana School Attendance policy emphasizes the importance of consistent attendance, and we’re here to support your family in meeting that goal. Let’s work together to make every day count!
Our hearts remain heavy as we remember Kellie O’Rourke, our special education teacher who passed away unexpectedly. Kellie made a lasting impact on our students and staff with her unwavering dedication and kind spirit. Supporting your child through grief can be challenging. Encourage open conversations, listen to their feelings, and remind them that it’s okay to be sad. If your child needs additional support, please reach out to our school counselor.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Let’s make February a month filled with kindness and connection!
