Kia ora Koutou,
We are excited to extend a warm welcome to our new Deputy Principal, Tui Halakatoua, who brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our school community. With a strong background in leadership, Pa Tui has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally responsive environment, ensuring that every student feels valued and supported.
Pa Tui is also highly regarded for their strengths in curriculum development, working tirelessly to create engaging and effective learning experiences that cater to the diverse needs of our students. His approach is both innovative and student-centered, aligning perfectly with our school’s vision for full well rounded education.
In addition to these impressive skills, Pa Tui is a passionate advocate for professional growth and development. Their coaching and mentoring abilities have empowered countless educators to reach their full potential, ultimately benefiting the entire school community.
We are thrilled to have Pa Tui join our leadership team, and we look forward to the positive impact he will undoubtedly have on our school. Please join us in welcoming Pa Tui to our West End School whānau .
A huge congratulations to our students who participated in the recent Dance NZ Made competition! The dedication and effort they put into their performances were nothing short of spectacular. Their creativity, energy, and passion for dance truly shone on stage. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and the way they represented our school with pride and enthusiasm. Thank you to the teachers, parents, and supporters who have been alongside them every step of the way. Your support has been invaluable in making this experience a memorable one for our students.
This week, the school has been buzzing with excitement as students from all year levels have immersed themselves in Math Week. A variety of engaging and interactive activities have been set up to challenge our students’ mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills. From puzzles and games to collaborative projects, it's been fantastic to see the enthusiasm with which students have approached these tasks. Math Week has been a great success, sparking curiosity and a love for learning mathematics in our students.
We are pleased to announce that Manawatu Cricket is continuing their coaching sessions with Rooms 6 and 7. The students have been benefiting from expert guidance, developing their skills, and learning the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship. These sessions have not only enhanced their cricket abilities but also provided a fun and active way to build confidence and resilience. We look forward to seeing the progress our budding cricketers will make in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your ongoing support in all our school activities.
Nga mihi,

Maths Week!
We've had an action packed week of Maths throughout West End! We've estimated the distance Pa Tui can throw a vortex, how many basketballs Miss Bone and Mrs Garstang can shoot in 2 minutes, how many times Mr Minchin can hit a cricket ball in a minute and how many jelly beans in a jar. Each class has been involved in a maths quiz and all of our prize winners were celebrated in the VIBE today! Having fun with maths has been the real winner of the week! Thank you to all who have helped bring this week to life!

Room 14
In Ruma 14 we are learning about shapes. We investigated Piet Mondrian who is a famous artist. He liked using primary colours with squares and rectangles. We looked carefully at his art and then made our own. Now we are wondering how many white squares we have used or how many red rectangles we used!
