"Bee" in the Know
Week of September 10, 2023
Greetings Osbourn Park Students and Families!
Congratulations on completing week three of school. We have some amazing students here at OPHS and are looking forward to a great year of teaching and learning. Attending school each day is extremely important. Regular school attendance is essential for student success. A missed school day is a lost opportunity for students to learn, and students can get behind in their studies due to frequent absences. Please help your students by encouraging regular daily attendance. If you have any questions, please reach out to your teachers, assistant principal or counselor.
Activity Buses
Our Activity Buses will start to run on September 12th and run every Tuesday and Thursday for the remainder of the school year. Activity Bus stops can be found on the Osbourn Park School Webpage and will be emailed out through our Student Canvas page. Keep in mind that Activity Bus stops are express stops and will not be able to drop students off at their normal AM or PM bus stops. Fortunately, we have an Activity Bus that stops at Gar-Field HS to support a large number of transfer students from the county's Eastern Side.
Please remind your students that in order to ride the Activity Bus, they must be with a teacher, coach, or club sponsor by 2:25pm, with no exceptions. Once they leave their activity, the teacher, coach, or sponsor will write them a pass, and the student must report to the first-floor cafeteria within 10 minutes of receiving that pass. Students will remain in the first-floor cafeteria with our Activity Bus supervisors until the buses arrive at 4:45pm.
Students may not leave campus, return to the school, and then ride the activity bus. Students violating this policy are in danger of having their activity bus privileges revoked for the remainder of the quarter. Students who stay after school to hang out with friends will lose the privilege of riding the activity bus.

Signs of Suicide (SOS)
This year school staff are working to teach students about mental health and how to seek help if they are worried about themselves or a friend. We are using a program called Signs of Suicide (SOS). The program will be presented to our 9th graders during their English classes during their flex blocks on 9/26/2023, 9/28/2023, 10/2/2023, 10/04/2023 and 10/11/2023. SOS teaches students about this difficult topic and encourages them to seek help. It has been used by thousands of schools for over 20 years. Please see links below for further information in English and Spanish. These links include an opt-out form if you do not wish for your child to participate.
