Mission Elementary
Riding the Wave of Excellence!
October 23, 2022
It has been a great week of parent conferences. Thank you for keeping your conference time and asking questions about your child's progress. Please continue to maintain communication with their teacher and for encouraging your children to ask questions and participating in classroom discussions. Communication and participation are a big part of learning.
Remember that tomorrow, Monday, October 24 is the last day of parent-teacher conference and that it is also a minimum day. Dismissal is at 12:25pm for students in grades TK-5. On Tuesday, we return to our regular school schedule. Preschool students maintain their daily schedule during parent-teacher conference week. Monday is also our last day of the Bookfair in the library.
We are looking forward to Red Ribbon Week. See the flyer below for the daily themed days. We look forward to seeing everyone celebrate their commitment to living a drug-free life! Thank you for understanding that students will not be allowed to wear costumes during school hours on October 31st.

Cold and Flu Season
As a reminder, please do not send your child to school if they are feeling sick or experiencing symptoms of a virus. Keeping your sick child home will be a great benefit for the health and wellness of our students and staff.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) offers these tips to prevent influenza:
Get vaccinated every year
Avoid close contact with sick people
Frequently wash hands with soap
Stay at home if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
Individuals with chronic health issues and/or individuals experiencing severe symptoms should be evaluated by a medical professional.
The influenza vaccine is available at doctors’ offices and retail pharmacies and is covered by medical insurance. People with no health care coverage can get vaccinated at one of the County’s six public health centers or a local community clinic. To find the nearest location, visit the County’s Flu Vaccine Locations page or call 2-1-1 San Diego. The CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get vaccinated every year.
