Principal's Message
Dear Vista Families,
What a great evening at Burt and Rocky's last Tuesday! Students were surprised to see Vista Staff working behind the counter and scooping ice cream. See the fun photos below.
We have our last week of testing, next week. Fourth through sixth grades will be testing in math. Please note that if your child is testing and arrives after 8:10am, he/she will not be allowed to enter the classroom, as to not interrupt others taking the test. Unfortunately, we will not be able to check students out of class before 12:00pm due to testing so please schedule appointments on non-testing days or after 1:00pm. See the schedule and testing tips within this newsletter for further information.
Mental Health Spirit week is next week. Be sure to help us celebrate this important awareness. See the green flier beneath my message for more information.
Warmly,
Mrs. Nuanes

May Testing Schedule
Please make sure that your child is in school on these days and do not schedule any appointments during the testing times 8:00 am – 12:00 pm. Once your child begins testing s/he must complete that session; therefore, once testing begins we will not check students out of class.

Testing Tips
To help your child experience success please talk with your child about the importance of the exam and follow these suggestions.
- Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep.
- Eat a healthy breakfast that includes protein.
- Consider sending your child with a healthy snack such as string cheese or yogurt.
- Make sure your child arrives to school on time. Get things ready the night before to avoid conflicts when trying to get to school.
- A positive mindset is important, so give your child some encouraging words and remind him or her to closely read the passages and questions.
Testing Snacks Needed
Testing takes a great deal of energy and stamina. To help students maintain a high rate of energy as they are sitting for a long period of time we provide students a snack at their break. It would be greatly appreciated if you are able to donate some snacks for this purpose. Suggested snacks are Granola Bars, Cheez-Its, Pretzels, Bananas, Cuties, and Fruit Snacks. Thank you for supporting your child and other students as well.
