The Healthy Minds club went on a walk to relieve some stress! Healthy Minds club is a new club that has a purpose of promoting and practicing stress relief activities!
Dear Parents, Guardians and Students
This week is a short week due to Parent-Teacher Conferences on Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, we will follow our typical 7-period schedule with an early dismissal at 12:09 PM. To align with our Focus Plan of preparing students for their future, we will dedicate Wednesday's classes to future readiness activities for life, college and career.
Students will spend some time in Naviance, explore career clusters and career values, and consider how various personality types might lend themselves to specific careers. While the themes are similar, the lessons are newly designed from last year to include more activity and game play. In addition, a few of the lessons are differentiated for our seniors, understanding their needs might be unique. Finally, as part of the morning, students will take the DESSA survey. Please see the letter linked below regarding this strength-based, annual SEL screener.
Kind regards,
Amy Levek
Valuable Items in the Office
We have been getting more a more items dropped off in the main office, some of them more valuable - keys, wallets, money, etc. Given the traffic in the office, we cannot accept and maintain responsibility for these items on a regular basis. Please consider when it's absolutely necessary to drop off items and make plans to connect with your student if/when that is possible. We appreciate the support!
STATE Qualifiers!
Congratulations to our Girls' Cross Country Team for qualifying for the STATE meet in Wisconsin Rapids next weekend!

Lunch Hour Open Gym
As part of our school-wide goal of implementing Sources of Strength activities more widely, our PE/Health team will be supervising "open gym" activities during lunch on Monday-Thursday starting in the 2nd quarter. Activity options will be based both on student interest and fieldhouse setup. As an example, badminton may be offered on one side of the Fieldhouse while basketball is on the other. These Healthy/Physical activities will begin immediately following ISHP and allow those interested to burn off some energy before afternoon classes during our colder months!
Fall Play: The Laramie Project
In October 1998, a twenty-one-year-old student at the University of Wyoming was kidnapped, severely beaten, and left tied to a fence in the middle of the prairie outside Laramie, Wyoming. His bloody, bruised, and battered body was not discovered until the next day, and he died several days later in an area hospital. His name was Matthew Shepard, and he was the victim of this assault because he was gay.
Moisés Kaufman and fellow members of the Tectonic Theater Project made six trips to Laramie over the course of a year and a half, in the aftermath of the beating and during the trial of the two young men accused of killing Shepard. They conducted more than 200 interviews with the people of the town. Some people interviewed were directly connected to the case, while others were citizens of Laramie, and the breadth of the reactions to the crime is fascinating. Kaufman and Tectonic Theater members have constructed a deeply moving theatrical experience from these interviews and their own experiences in Laramie.
The Laramie Project is a breathtaking collage that explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable. Come join us for this deeply moving production.
