Making Your Yard a Pollinator Oasis
Tuesday, May 20, 6 p.m.
Harmony Library
Calvin Alexander from the Rhode Island Beekeepers Association will give a presentation on how to create a habitat in your yard that is beneficial to pollinators. Pollen-rich native plants, shelter, and a water source are essential. Choosing a variety of plants that will bloom at different times throughout the spring, summer, and fall ensures that pollinators have continuous nourishment. Come with your questions! Calvin, with a URI degree in Aquaculture and Fisheries Technology, has been keeping bees from nine years and has 17 hives scattered across Rhode Island. He and his wife are the owners of Bailey Beattie Apiaries in Warwick.
