What's new with Watkins Middle?
A weekly reflection and preview of all things WMS
WMS updates and reminders
- The return to school means a return to routine for students, staff, and families. Staff will be reviewing building procedures with students to refresh day to day expectations. Helping students to reacclimate to school helps support the transition back into routine. As a reminder to parents please continue to abide by all drop/ off and pick up procedures as well as building entry times. In the event of two hour delays please refer to our building website for times.
- This is the part of the year where we begin having conversations with students about scheduling for next year. Sixth and Seventh grade students will receive information in the coming weeks related to course offerings for next year.
- High School counselors will be facilitating scheduling through social studies classes. All 8th grade parents should plan on attending a high school scheduling meeting on January 29th @ 6pm in the high school auditorium.
- Interested in College Credit Plus (CCP) programming for your student? All 7th-12th students are eligible to take CCP coursework if they meet academic requirements. A CCP meeting is open to any rising 7th-12th grader on January 29th @ 7pm following the 8th grade scheduling meeting.
- During the first semester our building has been working on grading alignment. We will be making some adjustments to our building grading policies including but not limited to: Grading weights, retake policies, and our building 50% policy. More information will be shared out in future newsletters upon approval.
- Have you missed any previous newsletters? You can always look on our school website to find archived newsletters to catch up on all things Watkins Middle School.
