WFBMS FAMILY NEWS
October 14, 2024
Greetings Middle School Families,
It is quite a busy week at the middle school as we support the high school’s homecoming week with a spirit week of our own, capped off with cheering the high schoolers on Friday as the homecoming parade passes on Henry Clay. Additionally, our 7th graders leave for camp and I am thrilled to be joining them on Thursday and Friday. Every year, our seventh graders depart for camp to engage in meaningful activities focused on forging strong connections with one another, building a sense of community among learners and staff, as well as providing a unique experience. Among the many unique activities in which our learners engage is the Courage Retreat, run by Youth Frontiers, which is focused on inspiring learners to follow their hearts instead of the crowd and use moral courage to make responsible decisions despite their fears. Learners leave the retreat empowered to be themselves and take positive risks that make a healthy difference for themselves, their peers, and their school. I cannot wait to engage in camp for the first time and for you to hear the stories of meaningful experiences from your learners once they return.
Also, to keep everyone aware, the high school’s homecoming parade will pass by the middle school between 3:00 and 3:30, traveling down Kimbark, across Henry Clay, and turning onto Ardmore to return to the high school. As a result, the roads on the parade route will be closed, which will impact you should you choose to pick up your child at the end of the day. Please plan accordingly.
I hope all of you have a wonderful week.
Best,
Geoff Pontus
