McConnell Minute

Parents/Guardians,

As we gear up to start another year, I want to provide you with important reminders and information to help begin the year successfully.

• Please have students at their bus stops 10-15 minutes earlier than the scheduled pick-up time during the first week. Routes often need a few days to solidify pick-up and drop-off times.
• Expect buses to be late in the afternoon during the first week of school. Middle school is the last level to be released and is often delayed due to issues at high school and elementary school.
• Please remind your student(s) and support the school’s “Away for the Day” cell phone policy. Once students enter the building, cell phones should be powered off and put away until they exit the building at the end of the day.
• Students should bring Chromebooks to school on Monday. Returning 7th and 8th graders to McConnell should have a device from last school year. New students and 6th graders will receive their devices on Monday and Tuesday.
• Car Riders-Please use new tags that were issued at Open House. Old tags are no longer valid. If you need to register a student for car rider, please email Lynn Jackson at lynn.jackson@gcpsk12.org.

Our school supply list is still available for purchase on Mypaymentsplus.com. Purchased bags will be delivered to students. This is a generic list of items but should cover most, if not all, of your child's instructional needs. If you would like to donate items to teachers such as hand sanitizer, paper towels, disinfectant wipes, Kleenex, etc., it would greatly be appreciated.

Please review the requested contribution for McConnell Middle School, which supplement state funding. Contributions are voluntary, and no student will be denied access to any course for not contributing. However, we strongly encourage you to support some or all of the programs listed to help us provide the best educational experiences for students.
