Principal's Page
Hello RRO Families,
As we approach the holiday season, we would like to take a moment to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each of you for entrusting us with the education and care of your children. It is a privilege and a responsibility that we hold with the utmost respect and commitment.
Watching your children grow, learn, and thrive brings us immense joy and inspiration every day. Their curiosity, resilience, and creativity remind us of the profound impact that a nurturing and supportive community can have on shaping bright futures. This would not be possible without your trust, collaboration, and unwavering support.
The holidays are a time to reflect on the blessings in our lives, and we count your families among ours. We deeply value the partnership we share in fostering an environment where your children can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
As we close this chapter of the year, we wish you and your loved ones a holiday season filled with warmth, joy, and cherished moments. May the new year bring health, happiness, and success to your family.
Thank you once again for being such an integral part of our community. We look forward to continuing this journey together in the year ahead.
Warmest regards,
Sandie

Changes in Transportation Arrangements
Effective Monday, November 11, similar to last year, we will only accept a change in transportation arrangements for the same day prior to 3:00 p.m. In the event of a true emergency, our office staff will certainly honor your request.
Thank you for supporting our staff and students in making sure all of our students are safe throughout the day, as well as for the trip back home.
Bus Riding is a Privilege
Please Review Bus Behavior Expectations at Home
Dear Parents,
We are grateful to offer school bus transportation to ensure students travel safely and conveniently to and from school. However, it is essential to remember that riding the bus is a privilege rather than a right. Maintaining this privilege depends on students meeting expectations for safe and respectful behavior.
School bus rides are an extension of the classroom, and students are expected to demonstrate the same level of responsibility and respect while on the bus. Proper behavior not only ensures their safety, but also the safety of fellow students and the bus driver.
We kindly ask for your support in reinforcing these expectations with your child. Key behavior guidelines include:
- Remaining seated and facing forward throughout the ride.
- Using kind and respectful language.
- Keeping hands, feet, and belongings to themselves.
- Following the bus driver’s instructions promptly.
By working together, we can make every student’s bus ride a positive and safe experience. Thank you for your partnership in supporting this important part of your child’s school day.
ART with Mrs. D.
Check us out on FB @ Maps Art Rocks!
1st Grade
Currently we are working on learning about the black bear. After learning about their habitat and characteristics we took to pencil and paper to draw one. The students will finish using watercolor pencil to add textures and color. We hope you enjoyed our Christmas tree hats for the music program. Two of our first grade classes used tempera paints and other materials to decorate a paper plate. Two hats were created from each plate so I could make hats for the other two classes who had missed out due to snow days and rehearsals. Making decorations and accessories for the music program helps us understand the visual arts standard of creating art for a purpose.
2nd Grade
Second grade just finished making some beautiful winter tree windows. We used black construction paper and oil crayons to draw the winter scene from a window perspective. This was finished using white acrylic paint to add snow. Earlier this fall each class discussed perspective. They drew a road/path, lined with fall trees, to a horizon line with a small building near the vanishing point. Then using acrylic paint and oil crayon, the students added color with movement inspired by artist Vincent Van Gogh.
3rd Grade
Third grade creature collages turned out so great! The students worked very hard using the different mediums every week. Recently we started working with geometric shapes. Students practice drawing a cube, cylinder, cone, pyramid, and sphere. Next, they will draw a geometric shape composition and finish by learning about value.
4th Grade
Last month we learned about Pop Art and discussed various Pop Artists. Students created Pop Art burgers using construction paper, marker, weaving, and a paper plate. This project turned out so fun and creative. Just recently we piggy backed off of Pop Art into Surrealism. They are making a school locker (out of construction paper) and adding artwork inside the locker that is surreal. So if they open their completely normal locker, they should see something that would never ever be inside their locker. They are loving this project.
5th Grade
Fifth grade just finished creating beautiful acrylic painted popsicle stick magnets. Using glue and popsicle sticks, they each made a small canvas. Students were given multiple mediums to add color to their canvas. The subject of their artwork was their choice. We finished these by adding magnets and mod podge. I look forward to using clay after the holiday break.
