News & Reminders
We are looking forward to the start of another great school year at E. S. Richardson! Please take time to closely read the information in this newsletter. It will answer most questions you may have. If you still have questions, please call the school at (318) 377-2213. Our school Facebook page is managed after normal working hours by the principal and is not the place for questions, concerns, or complaints. You may not get a response by posting on our Facebook page. Your message will always get a timely response when you send it by email to michelle.finley@websterpsb.org.
For new students coming to E. S. Richardson for the first time, we will have several staff members and student ambassadors available to assist with escorting new students to their homeroom on the first day of school. Each student's homeroom teacher will be indicated on the label of the registration packet for returning students. Our building has two entrances, bus line (front entrance) and car line (back entrance). It is very easy to navigate inside our building as well. We have two halls in our main building, one is for 4th grade and one is for 5th grade. Please know that we will make sure our new students are escorted to their homeroom by a staff member or a student ambassador on the first day of school. Our job is to ensure all students feel safe and welcome when they enter our campus. Fourth grade is when students begin to develop their independence, and we see that grow throughout the school year. If your child has a special need, please call the school and we will work with you to make sure there is an easy transition. Parents are not allowed to escort their child to class on the first day of school.
- Online registration is ONLY required for students that are new to the district or previously dropped from Webster Parish and need to be re-enrolled. If your student attended school in Webster Parish last year, there will be a pre-filled enrollment form in each student's registration packet that will need to be updated if your information has changed. Please edit any information and phone numbers that have changed before returning. Any address changes require 2 proofs of residence (utility bills). This form needs to be SIGNED AND DATED and returned to the school even if no information has changed. We will have our registration packets available to distribute during the Back-To-School Bash at Webster Jr. High on Sunday, August 4th from 3:00 - 6:00 pm. We will have all remaining packets at the school to pick up anytime Monday-Thursday from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm from the school secretary. The office will be closed from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm for lunch daily. If you are unable to pick up during these times, please call the secretary to set up another time to complete the required paperwork. NEW STUDENTS to the district will need to provide two proofs of residency (2 utility bills), birth certificate, social security card, immunization records, and parent photo ID at registration. Paperwork must be updated prior to your student's first day of school. We MUST have correct phone numbers and contact information in the event of an emergency.
- Bus information can be accessed on the district website www.websterpsb.org. Click the "Find My Bus" link. The username is School.Bus and the password is Webster1. Enter your address information to see bus details. Students that live in a 1-mile radius of the school are walkers and will not have a bus assignment. Pick-up times for bus stops are ESTIMATED. Nothing has changed since last school year unless a student has moved or is new to riding a bus. Please contact our school secretary at krystal.luellen@websterpsb.org or 377-2213, if you have questions about a bus. NOTE: Bus information should be updated on the link above soon! Please check back before the first day of school!
- The Webster Parish Back to School Bash will take place on Sunday, August 4th from 3 pm until 6 pm at Webster Jr. High School. All Webster Parish families are invited to come by. Webster Parish is providing a portion of the needed classroom supply list at this event. These supplies can be brought to your child's teacher on the first day of school or dropped off at school on Thursday, August 8th from 1pm - 3pm. Please see school supply list below.
- In-person registration will take place on Sunday, August 4th from 3:00-6:00 pm at Webster Jr. High during the Back-To-School Bash. We will collect money for the optional insurance and signatures on the 1:1 device contracts this day. We do not accept checks and will not have change available. Chromebooks will not be deployed at this event. Once paperwork is completed and the opportunity to purchase optional insurance has been given, chromebooks will be deployed directly to students during the first two weeks of school. Students that owe fees for previous chromebook damage or loss will not receive another device until debts are paid. Optional $25 device insurance is strongly recommended. Please bring exact change if you plan to purchase the insurance.
- We begin receiving bus riders at 7:15 am. Breakfast is served in the cafeteria until 7:45 am. Walkers must be in the breakfast line by 7:30 am. Students are tardy after 8:00 am. School dismisses at 3:15 pm. If there is NOT a teacher on car line duty, you must drive around to the front entrance and walk your child in and sign your child in to get a tardy slip. Car riders must be picked up no later than 3:45 pm.
- Please be patient with the car line the first few days of school. Once car line tags/numbers are assigned, and all bus riders are riding the bus, the car line will go very smoothly. The first few days will take longer and that is expected.
- *****PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD KNOWS HOW THEY ARE GETTING HOME ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.*****
- If it is raining at the time of dismissal (or a thunderstorm/weather warning) all WALKERS will be placed in the car line and must be picked up by a parent/guardian by 3:45 pm.
- If the mode of transportation changes for your child from morning to afternoon, you MUST submit this information in writing either by note or email the change to krystal.luellen@websterpsb.org. We DO NOT accept transportation changes over the phone or after NOON each day.
- Car Riders are dropped off in the back of the building. A map is available on our website at res.websterpsb.org. Staff will assist your child in getting to the correct homeroom during the first week of school. Parents are not allowed to walk their child to their homeroom. Again, car line is in the back of the building. Please do not pull into the parking lot until a duty teacher motions the first car in line forward. This blocks the teacher's access to the parking area. Only those parents that are picking up other siblings off of a transfer bus are allowed to park on the street in the front of our building.
- School uniform colors are red and navy only for tops and khaki and navy for bottoms. Please refer to our complete dress code policy at res.websterpsb.org for what can and cannot be worn to school. Our 2024-2025 uniform t-shirts are allowed to be worn Monday-Friday as a uniform shirt. The t-shirt order link is still active on our website res.websterpsb.org for the second order. Please note that if you did not meet the deadline for the first order, your t-shirt order will not be submitted until the 2nd order closes on September 3rd. After the second order closes, there will not be another opportunity to order uniform t-shirts/sweatshirts until November.
- The uniform spirit t-shirt link can be found on our website https://res.websterpsb.org. We have already submitted the first order. The deadline for the second order is August 31st. Please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery after the order closes.
- We have had reports of others trying to recreate and profit from our uniform spirit t-shirt design. Any uniform spirit t-shirts not purchased from E.S. Richardson are NOT allowed to be worn to school. This is a violation of our policy and essentially taking money from the school, as this is used as a fundraiser for our school-wide PBIS program for students and teachers.
- Belts are required to be worn daily with shirts tucked in.
- Parents that pre-ordered uniform spirit t-shirts by the deadline will be notified as soon as we receive those shirts and sort them. We will distribute the first order of uniform spirit shirts during the first two days of school directly to the student. The second order closes on August 31st.
- If your address or phone number changes, please notify the school office at (318) 377-2213. If you have not been receiving our messages throughout the summer, you need to call the office and update your contact numbers.
- PBIS Concessions are sold daily prior to 8 am and all items are $1.00. Students that are tardy to school are not allowed to buy concessions. No bills over $5 are accepted for concession payment. STUDENTS THAT HAVE FOUR OR MORE NEGATIVE CONDUCT MARKS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BUY CONCESSIONS. Concessions are delivered to classrooms after lunch. The time at which students are given their concession item(s) is at the discretion of the teacher. Students are not allowed to place any opened items in their backpack to bring home. We will not start concessions until school has been in session at least 2-3 weeks.
- PLEASE DO NOT send your child to school if they are sick! If your child is running fever or vomiting they have to be out of school for 24 hours fever free and/or without vomiting. Please notify the school so that other arrangements can be made for your child while they are out of school.
