*WIN*
On Monday we, as an Athletic Department had our Head coaches meeting regarding 2023/2024. The main topic of that meeting was to win. At Marian Central there is not only a long history of winning both in the classroom and in athletics, but also winning in our personal lives. Everyone that walks these halls sets themselves up for future success and athletics plays a big role in that.
Winning is something that is happening right now at Marian during the winter sports. We did have some success with a few athletes in the fall sports being successful, but the winter sports have been fast paced and dominating. Our Girls Basketball program broke the single season games won record which was previously set by Jim Speaker and his team when they won 22 straight games. This year's team has 23 wins and are still counting as they compete in the regionals in the IHSA state series.
Wrestling has also continued their dominance on the mat. Under new leadership this year the wrestling theta hasn’t skipped a beat by sending 5 qualifiers to individual state and qualifying as a team for team sectionals on Tuesday the 21st of February at Oregon High School. The five young men that qualified for state will wrestle the best of the best in hopes of bringing home a state title.
Also not to miss out is our boys basketball team. Obviously this wasn’t the year they were hoping for as far as the number of wins they have gotten, but they are on a hot streak and aspiring to win their first game of regionals this Saturday at 2pm in Landers Pavilion vs North Boone.
Things are heading in the right direction here at Marian Central in the Athletic Department and I hope to see continued success now and in the future.
Thank you.

Practice ACT
Every year, Marian Central Catholic High School serves as a test center for the ACT in April. This year, the test date will be Saturday, April 15th, 2023. Please know that while we serve as a test center, we are not able to reserve seats for our Marian Central students. If you are interested in signing up for the April 15th ACT, please register on the ACT Registration website. For the April 15th test here, be sure to use our test center code: 174990. And our school code is: 144475.
As our junior class prepares to take the ACT this spring, and sophomores in the future, I wanted to share an opportunity with you that is free and could provide some additional assistance in preparing for the exam.
We will be providing a free practice ACT here at Marian Central Catholic on Wednesday, March 1st. This is a day off for students, so the practice exam will be from 8:00am - 12:30pm in the library. Space is limited to the first 20 students who sign up.
Students can sign up for one or both opportunities through the Revolution Prep website. The Revolution Prep website will have links to additional free practice tests as well as some group test prep sessions, which come with a fee.
If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Wochner, College Counselor, at 815-338-4220 x120 or swochner@marian.com.
