INCOMPLETE ASSIGNMENTS
Lately, we have been struggling with staying focused and working quietly in class. Many students are finding it difficult to complete their assignments because they are talking instead of working.
Due to this ongoing issue, any unfinished assignments will be sent home daily if students have been given sufficient time to complete them in class. These assignments will need to be completed at home and returned the following day.
Please check your child’s backpack each evening and remind them to complete any unfinished work. Your support in reinforcing these expectations is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your help!
OVER DUE LIBRARY BOOKS
Your student took home notices last week. If you have questions, contact Mrs. Johnson in the library (emilyjo@provo.edu)
HANDWRITING
Handwriting and Proper Usage of Uppercase and Lowercase Letters
Recently, I’ve noticed that many students are not taking the feedback I am providing in class to improve their handwriting.
To help your child succeed, it’s essential that they focus on the correct formation of letters. Going forward, students will be marked incorrect if:
• Letters are written backwards.
• Letters are capitalized unnecessarily.
• Letters are formed incorrectly (e.g., h looking like an a, a looking like an o, d looking like an a, etc.).
Please remind your child of the importance of practicing neat and accurate handwriting. Paying attention to these details now will help set a strong foundation for their writing in the future.
VALENTINE'S DAY
Our Valentine’s Party will be on Friday, February 14! Please bring a decorated container—such as a bag or box—to collect valentines from your friends. Get creative with your design! Also, be sure to bring a valentine for each classmate, with their name on it, so no one is missed. You are welcome to include candy or small items with your valentines if you would like. Let me know if you have any questions!
HOMEWORK
We recently completed our Acadience Math test, which is required by the state. Many students are struggling to complete one section of the test within the given time. In this section, they have three minutes to solve as many addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems as possible.
To help students improve their speed and accuracy, we are working on strategies in class. However, additional practice at home would be beneficial. Below, I have included links to printable worksheets that you can use to support your student.
Your help in reinforcing these skills at home is greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional resources.
Multiple versions of the worksheets are available at the bottom of each
ADDITION (26 versions available)
SUBTRACTION (10 versions available)
MULTIPLICATION (Basic Facts--26 versions available)
MULTIPLICATION (2-digit by 1-digit--10 versions available)
DIVISION (10 versions available)
