LUSI Lantern

I hope you all had a wonderful and restful holiday break! Our family spent the holidays on a cruise and it was fantastic! I am so looking forward to 2025!

Our theme for this month is new adventures! It is a new year and a clean slate and a great time to start trying new things. We will not have a book of the month this month. I encourage each student to find a new book to read for themselves this month. Encourage them to maybe try a new series or a new genre!

We will also be doing some work looking into possible careers that they may have never thought of. We will also do some work in our free time learning a new language using Duolingo!

We will also have a some possible new students visiting our school from time to time this month and moving forward trying out our demo days where they come in and see what we do and meet the other students and decide if we are a good fit for their student and family. I am looking forward to all of our new LUSI adventures this year! I can't wait to see what 2025 holds!

There is a Winter Formal hosted by the Fellowship of Home Educators for students 8-12th grade if your student is interested in attending. This will be this Friday, January 10th at Young Meadows in Montgomery. The cost is $20 and you pay at the door. It is a sneaker ball so make sure they wear their hottest kicks!

In February we are headed back to ASF to see The Watson's Go To Birmingham. This will be on February 13th. This will be our activity for the school day so we leave from and come back to the schoolhouse. If we are back before 2pm If your child will not be attending the play they will just stay home that day. The cost of the play will be $25 for students and $35 for adults. The payment for the play will be due by January 14th. If payment is not made by January 14th, then I will assume that your child will not be attending.

Our Fun Friday for this month will be going hiking at Swayback Trails in Wetumpka.

January 30th LUSI will be closed. Tina and I will be going to a AL School Choice Conference.

We will have class on Wednesday the 29th instead. We will have nature club this day as well.
