    What's the Weather Science Project!

    On Monday, your 1st grader brought home their What's the Weather? Project. This is due on Monday, February 26th. Please look over the packet carefully to make sure your child includes everything on the rubric in their finished product. Please be sure to plan ahead because you'll need 14 days of weather data! I look forward to seeing what these meteorologists pull off! :)

    Elementary Career Day!

    Elementary is planning on implementing a Career Day in April. We would love to have about 7 presenters come to the classrooms to share their skills with our kids. If you are interested in doing a presentation, please let myself, or Mrs. Ivarie know. We are looking for an interactive and engaging presentation. Models, pictures, things the students can touch or manipulate are welcome, (and encouraged!) The projected date is April 13, 2018. If you are interested, please send a brief overview of your career and an idea of what you’d be presenting to the classes. If you have a preferred grade level that you wish to work with, please include that information.

    Read Across America Day- Book Donation!

    Read Across America Day is Friday, March 2nd. To help prepare for this day, we would love to build our elementary classroom libraries with gently used books donated by our FSA families. If you have any books that are no longer needed in your home, please consider donating. We will take the books collected and distribute to all of the elementary classrooms. We are excited to get some new books in the hands of our students on Read Across America Day.


    Donations will be accepted until February 23 rd and may be dropped off in Ms. Ivarie’s office, room 1202. Thank you!

    Re-enrollment Announcement!

    Parents, Re-Enrollment is currently going on! Now that we have turned the calendar to a new year, for planning purposes, it is once again time to assess the number of students who plan to return to FSAPS next year. Please be informed that priority enrollment for current FSA students will end on Monday, February 5, 2018. After this date, any remaining spots will be offered to new applicants and wait lists will be administered. We have sent an email to all current families with the Re-Enrollment Form, or you can pick up a Re-Enrollment Form from the front desk. This form includes the tuition rates for the 2018 - 2019 School Year.

    Help us stay GERM free!

    It is that time of year again...


    Help our class stay healthy by please keeping your child home to rest up and get healthy if they are sick! Please remember we have a 24 hour fever free school policy. Make sure your child has been without a fever (without medication) for 24 hours before they return to school. We will continue to wash our hands and clean our classroom to stay healthy!

    Prize Box items Needed!

    We have a bunch of students needing to go to the prize box however, we are in low supply! If you are able to, please send in some small items that can be contributed to our treasure chest. Please feel free to send in items that your child is excited and interested about...this will be a great motivation for good behavior!

    Six Flags READ to SUCCEED Program

    Elementary students can participate in an exciting program that encourages children to read for FUN! Read to Succeed is a program sponsored by Six Flags. Every student who completes six hours of recreational reading before our deadline of Friday, February 23rd will receive a free admission ticket to Six Flags! Your child is bringing home their 2016-2017 Reading Log today. Work on filling up your child's log and return it to me by Friday, February 23rd to receive a Six Flags ticket. Happy Reading!

    StudyIsland ROCKS

    If you are looking for reinforcement of skills we are learning in class or extra practice for your first grade student - please consider using Study Island resource at home this year. This is a great resource we will be using this year where students can practice Math and Reading/Language Arts skills at home. This will help your child feel more confident during our MAP assessments this year. It is designed to help them practice the areas they are having difficulty with. Your child's username and password is the same as your FSA Connect login. If you need this information, please send me an email.

    A Peek at our week....

    Reading/Language Arts: We will continue to use background knowledge and other information in our reading passages to draw conclusions, write a descriptive paragraph, identify and use adjectives, using vowel digraphs ai/ay, and singular and plural possessives.

    Spelling Words: way, tail, play, day, may, rain, gray, mail, afraid, train, about, enjoy, give, surprise, worry, would


    Science: We will do some weather centers this week where students will work hands-on experimenting with precipitation! We will take the Weather Tools Quiz on Thursday, February 1st!

    What's the Weather Project will be due on Monday, February 26th!


    Social Studies: We will start our classroom economy stimulation! Also, we will be learning about spending and saving as well as jobs people have. We will have our Economics Quiz on Tuesday, February 6th!
