Chisholm Update
August 30, 2024

Happy Friday Chisholm Families!
I hope you are well as we enter into the fall season. We did experience a jump in temperatures this past week, but it looks like cooler weather is in the forecast this coming week. You can definitely tell the days are getting shorter.
Last evening, Chisholm held the Picnic on the Playground at school. We had a decent turnout for this event, which was one of the school-wide rewards for our recent recent fundraiser. I'd like to thank and acknowledge our PTO for securing some food trucks and also recognize the group selling snacks to raise money for the DC trip. Of course, it was a little warmer than we would have thought for the time of year, but it did cool off throughout the evening. I'd like to thank everyone that was able to come out, socialize with other families, and support this event.
Last year, our PTO started recognizing Chisholm substitutes for their help covering classes for teacher absences. We place everyone that subs at Chisholm in a list we draw for substitute for the month. September's winner was Kami Hanan and we were able to surprise her while she was actually substituting at Chisholm today. We appreciate all our substitutes for their help and support covering classes. If you have any interest or desire to become a substitute, you can click here or call the school. We would be happy to answer any questions you might have, and we are always looking for substitutes.
Student Technology Protection Plan
Today, September 20th, is the deadline to purchase the STTP for your student devices. This insurance will protect you against charges for broken iPads or Chromebooks and it costs $10. You can send money with your student or you can click here to pay online.
Next Friday, September 27, we will be recognizing and celebrating the September and July student birthdays with a cookie and birthday book. Thank you PTO for your help securing the books that are given out to students for their birthdays!
Parent/ Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday, October 3rd, and Tuesday, October 8th. Both evening will have conferences begin at 4:30 and end at 8:00. Be on the lookout soon for a sign-up from your child's teacher.
Cafeteria - The deadline for signing up for Free and Reduced Lunches is quickly approaching
Click here to access Free and Reduced information on signing up to see if you qualify for this program. Everyone that enters, whether you qualify or not, will be entered in for a drawing for win a free tv.
This past Monday, September 16th, any child who is in FULL PAY status, and over the $25 limit, will receive an alternate meal. Email notifications of negative balances are sent out frequently, so please take care of negative balances. We have a few account that are in this situation.
The alternate Breakfast is a piece of toast, fruit and milk. The alternate Lunch is a cheese sandwich, fruit and milk.
Have a great weekend!

Dismissal Reminders
At the end of the day, we ask that early checkouts happen before 3:00. If your student is a 33rd Street Walker, they should live in Old Farm or Thornbrook. If your student is a Spring Hill Walker, they should live in the Springhill Neighborhood or the subsequent neighborhoods that are too close to receive bus transportation. Students that ride a bus will load from the gym once their bus arrives at school. If you need specifics on bus numbers and times please click this link, which will ask you to fill out your address.
Car Riders will need to use the Red Hangtag, which was given out at Meet the Teacher. (If you were unable to attend Meet the Teacher, our office is open 8-3:30 on Wednesday August 14.) Please be sure to make sure this tag is visible to the person out front entering the number by our marquee. Once their number has been entered, students will come out of the building by the first grade hallway and be positioned by one of the concrete bollards numbered 1-6 (please be sure to stay out far enough aways from the bollards so your car door doesn't get dinged). If you don't have your hangtag, you will need to pull in and check your student out from the office. There is a button below that goes through the Car Rider procedures.
