March 17, 2025
Greetings ECAC Families,
I hope this message finds you well! I want to take a moment to highlight how important your input is through our parent survey. Your thoughts and feedback are incredibly valuable to our school community. They help us understand what we’re doing well and identify areas where we can improve.
The insights you provide will help us enhance the learning experience for all our children. By sharing your opinions, you play a vital role in shaping our programs, resources, and support systems.
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey by Monday, March 24th. Your voice truly matters, and together, we can create an even better learning environment for our kids. Thank you for your time and support!

Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS)
Join us on February 9, 2025 from 2:40 PM-3:25 PM
Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS)
is a framework that guides schools in supporting the success of all learners. We invite you to join us and share your ideas. If you're interested in joining, please let us know!
Summary from February and March meetings:
In recent meetings, we emphasized the importance of PRIDE expectations, discussing ways to increase student engagement with shout-outs and acknowledgments. Dr. Pames will be asking students to define PRIDE during these discussions.
Discipline data shows only two infractions in January, highlighting the need to consistently enter referrals and follow discipline procedures.
Planning for the end-of-year celebration includes soliciting student input on desired activities.
EOC Daily Incentives Criteria was created and will be shared with families and learners.
The next meeting is Wednesday, April 9th from 2:40 PM-3:25 PM.
Attendance Update
Our attendance goal is to reduce the chronic absenteeism rate by 15%, bringing it down to 53%.
Consistent attendance is vital as it ensures that learners receive the full benefits of classroom instruction and fosters essential habits of responsibility and commitment that will benefit them throughout their lives. Currently, the chronic absenteeism rate stands at 67% which is a decrease of 7%.
I would also like to recognize and celebrate our learners who have achieved an impressive attendance rate of 90% or higher. Their dedication to being present daily is commendable and a wonderful example of their commitment to their education. Additionally, we applaud those learners who have worked hard to improve their attendance rates. Their efforts to be present and engaged in their learning are truly inspiring.

Expectations for being on the main campus & School IDs
Learners can only be on the main campus or in the school before, during, or after school with permission from Drs. Pames and Perkins or their designees. If a learner is in a school extracurricular activity, they can be on campus after school for practice. This rule is to prevent fights and protect learners. Learners who ride the bus must go straight home when dropped off. Failure to comply may result in exclusion from riding the bus or attending ECAC.
Students must wear their school IDs while on school property and to ride the bus. Only students with IDs and recognized as needing transportation will be allowed to ride the bus, with no exceptions unless approved by Drs. Pames and Perkins or their designees.
An ECAC shuttle bus will be available for learners who live on the east side of Maple Heights and have their school IDs. Transportation is a privilege, not a right. Therefore, learners must follow the Student Code of Conduct and Maple Heights staff directives or be excluded from riding the shuttle bus.
The bus will pick learners up for the first session at 7:25AM and drop them off at approximately 11:15 AM. The second session pick-up time is 11:15 AM and drop-off at approximately 2:45 PM. Learners should plan to arrive at the bus stop at least five minutes before the pick-up time.
The bus stop is the driveway at Lee Road and Mustang Way, across from the old nursing home. See the pictures below.
ACTION NEEDED
- All learners must have updated medical and emergency contact information at the start of every new school year. This is a state requirement. Please update and complete all emergency medical information in your Final Forms account https://mapleheights-oh.finalforms.com/ for the 2023-2024 school year. If your scholar needs a physical, the Cleveland Clinic Children's Mobile Health Unit will return this year. Visit our website for more information. Scholars cannot attend field trips without their updated medical and emergency contact information.
- The 1st session is from 8 AM- 11 AM, and the 2nd is from 11:30 AM-2:30 PM. Scholars are expected to attend every day. After 8:30 AM and 12 PM, a parent or caregiver will need to escort the student into the school. If your scholar is absent from school, please contact Mr. Graham, our Family Liaison, at 216-587-6100 ext 3107 with their absence. Parents and caregivers will be notified When scholars miss 38 or more hours of school in a month or 65 hours of school this year. Arriving on time and staying the entire session will ensure that all of our scholars will be on track for graduation.
- Lastly, please download the Maple Heights City School app to stay current about events and receive important alerts. Also, if you are on social media, please follow ECAC on Facebook and Instagram at @ecacmh.
