Principal's Message
Greetings Sabre Parents and Caregivers,
It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go. Wait a minute, is that a song? Now that we've got that Christmas jingle in your head, a few highlights from the past week.
Our SAL administration had the opportunity to speak at our annual Assurance review with members from our Board of Trustees and senior administration. It was the chance for us to tell our ‘story’ at SAL.
We are fortunate to have an amazing Board of Trustees in Elk Island Public Schools who are very supportive and want to know how we are doing.
Like all schools, and in public education, there are areas we feel, through the collection of data, that are going ‘well’ and other areas that we have experienced ‘challenges’. By identifying both, it then allows us to be that much more intentional in providing support to specific areas.
I will be going over both at this week’s School Council on Wednesday, November 29 at 6:00 p.m. in the library. We hope to see you there! Please see the agenda below.
Congratulations to the Senior Football Team and Head Coach Cam Fraser for winning the Tier One Provincial Championship with an absolutely thrilling overtime win in Red Deer. To see the sheer emotion after the game from our players, coaches, parents, and caregivers was an unforgettable moment.
Kudos also goes out to our Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Teams for their performances in provincials held in Calgary this past weekend.
We are very proud of how all of our teams have represented the school on both the local and provincial stage. A new season of play now begins for our basketball teams. Good luck to our Sabre ballers and our hope is that they have a ton of fun!
Also, congratulations goes out to the cast and crew of 'Little Women’ for their spectacular performances last week to sold out audiences.
Grad Information
We had a very good turnout at last week’s grad meeting. The information from that meeting can be found on the website at www.salcomp.ca under “Quick Links” “Graduation”. This week, graduation rings are on sale at lunchtime in front of the main office on Thursday, November 30 and Friday, December 1. Deposits are accepted in any format. As well, a link was sent out on student emails for students to input their grad gown sizes. Thanks for giving them a gentle reminder to complete the form.
Alright folks, we hope you have an awesome last few days of what is left in November and a good start to the month of December.
As always, let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
