CATCHING UP WITH... Mrs. Edmonston
Principal's Notes
Dear Coyote Families,
It has been another GREAT WEEK at Canyon View Elementary School! Here are some Highlights from this week... Fifth grade students from Mrs. McGhee's class pitched in to help with a garden clean-up, pulling weeds and getting the soil ready for the next planting cycle. On Thursday night, Team CV put on another fantastic family event - Winter Wonderland Bingo! Our Second Grade classes delighted audiences with their fairy-tale themed choir performance. Each song included positive character messages, and some humor as well! Thank you to our wonderful Foundation-funded Choir Teacher, Mrs. Angie Serrano for her amazing work with our students to make this event possible.
Let's Make it a Great Year Together,
Mrs. Erica Edmonston (she/her/hers)
Principal, Canyon View Elementary School

PUSD Parent Ambassador Opportunity
Hello Families of Students served through PUSD Special Education programs and services. I am the new PUSD Parent Engagement Liaison, and I wanted to share my contact information as well as another wonderful resource we offer, the PUSD Parent Ambassadors program.
Parent Ambassadors are parent volunteers who have their own child(ren) accessing special education services through PUSD. They serve as mentors to guide and support parents of children with IEPs or those exploring special education options. Drawing from their own experiences, they offer invaluable insights and advice to encourage collaboration among parents and school staff on behalf of students.
To reach out to a Parent Ambassador, please submit a request through get connected form. TO apply to become a Parent Ambassador, please complete this application form.

December 2023
Dear PUSD Community,
We are looking forward to continuing with the Equity Advisory Committee. Thank you for your patience as we spent the first few months focused on scaling work at school sites and engaged in thoughtful planning around our next steps to ensure racial equity and inclusion throughout PUSD.
This committee includes representative parents/guardians, students, and staff perspectives in an advisory role regarding the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan for Racial Equity and Inclusion. The Equity Advisory Committee will learn together, listen to input from others, and add value to our District improvement efforts.
The committee will:

Provide input regarding the revision of the Racial Equity and Inclusion Plan, with an emphasis on metric development
Provide recommendations for next steps in ensuring every student and adult feels safe, valued, seen, and heard
Support consistent communication of equity improvement efforts back to school communities
We know that diverse perspectives from across our District and feeder patterns will enrich our efforts to ensure every student and adult feels safe, valued, seen, and heard.

TEAM CV Meeting
Coyote parents (members or not) are invited to attend our monthly Team CV meetings, especially if you are interested in learning what the PTO & Foundation do, how money that is raised is spent, or are interested in training or shadowing for a position on the board/s next year. Many of our current board members are graduating out with their 5th graders this year and having people who are comfortable taking over key roles is important to ensuring we maintain a strong partnership for our younger kids. Though formal childcare is not available, children are invited to attend meetings and sit in the room with parents. Meetings occur every first Thursday of the month at 6 pm in the Innovation Station or via Zoom. For Zoom info, please DM us to be added to the distribution list.
Due to the holiday break, our next meeting is Thursday, January 11th. Hope to see you there!
