Eye on FISD
August 13, 2024
From Dr. Gilstrap
The first day of school is here, and we are ready to welcome our students back. Please be patient on the first days of school as traffic will be slow around our campuses and school buses may run longer. We will work to get the routine down and have bus routes and car lines running smoothly in no time, but we need your help. Remember to stop for school bus loading and unloading, slow down in school zones, and watch out for students walking to and from school.
Safety and security are our top priority. Help us keep our schools safe by following our protocols and procedures and reporting any suspicious activity. If you see something, say something.
I am excited for the new school year and the opportunities it will bring for our students. The Back to School Bash is always a great example of the immense support we receive from the community. This year we also invited local businesses and organizations to be part of our Vendor Fair at Convocation, where we welcomed all staff back to school. I was amazed to see that over 50 vendors attended. I look forward to continuing to work with our community to support our students, staff, and families. Together We Thrive.
Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application
All families are encouraged to fill out the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application, even if you know your family won't qualify or if students choose to bring their own lunch. Filling out the form is very important! Applying is crucial to ensure that FISD gets all the funding and benefits available to support teachers and students. Additionally, students who qualify for free and reduced-price meals may also qualify for other benefits, including dual credit courses at no costs! Click here to apply!
FHS Mini Cheer Camp
FHS Cheer is offering a fun and exciting mini cheer camp for youth interested in the world of cheerleading!
The camp will take place on Saturday, August 17, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. and is open to 4 through12-year-olds. All children are required to be potty trained. The camp will start by building a knowledge base for cheer. First time cheerleaders will be shown and trained the proper technique and fundamentals needed to cheer. For more advanced cheerleaders, the focus will be on skill perfection. Click here to register.
