A MESSAGE FROM OUR ACTING PRINCIPAL
Dear El Marino Families,
I know the week started a little rainy, but it ended with shine! We had Glitter Ball on Friday, which was an incredible time for all students! For someone who is new to El Marino, I was blown away by the incredible transformation of the Auditorium and the incredible dedication and work that the parents put into this event. Thank you all for attending!
Please remember that Wednesday, March 22, from 5pm to 5:45pm is Open House. There will be a food truck and we will be opening the gate to let parents on campus around 4:45pm so you can get your food. Teachers and students have been working very hard this year and want to show off all the amazing learning experiences that they have had! We cannot wait to see you on Wednesday!
Last note, since SPRING BREAK is coming up, we will have early dismissal at 1:45pm on Friday, March 24th.

FRIENDLY REMINDER FOR LIBRARY BOOKS!
Please remember to place a zip lock bag/plastic bag in your child's backpack to protect their library books on rainy days. This also helps to protect books from a water bottle or lunchbox spill.

FRIENDLY REMINDER ON HOW TO USE THE DROP ZONE AT COOLIDGE AVE & DILLER AVE
We want to remind El Marino families that our Drop Zone is a completely voluntary effort and it’s a privilege to have it at our school. These parents have been volunteering rain or shine!!
At any moment without the help of volunteers Drop Zone could stop existing. All the volunteers at Drop Zone are parents from our school and want to ensure the safety of students and families using the Drop Zone. We must all work together and be courteous and respectful to each other to keep this going.
There have been some issues that have caused unsafe drop offs in and around Drop Zone and contributed to congestion/backups. Please be mindful of the following:
Do not Double Park in or around Drop Zone
Do not cross through the ropes or in front of the Drop Zone lane while cars are present
Do not make U-turns on Coolidge Ave
Do not allow children out of the car in the street beyond the Drop Zone
Do not drop off TK or Kinder students in the Drop Zone
TK and Kinder students must be dropped off at their respective Gates
Do not use cell phones while using the Drop Zone
Please keep goodbyes short and sweet so that all the students behind you can arrive on time!
We hope that avoiding these unsafe and disruptive actions will help to make Drop Zone and the surrounding area a safer and better experience for everyone, especially for the students!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE TALENT SHOW THIS WEEK!
PTA Talent Show Coordinators Ms. Diamond and Nancy Martin need some assistance for the Talent Shows as well as Dress Rehearsal (would be great if the same volunteers could help with Dress Rehearsal but not required). They are looking for a max of 2 volunteers for each day.
Volunteer days are:
- Wednesday, March 22, 2 - 3 pm
- Thursday, March 23, 5:30 - 7 pm
- Friday, March 24, 5:30 - 7 pm
No Volunteer Clearance is needed for these volunteer opportunities, but you will need to make sure your children are supervised if you are volunteering.

GRADUATION LAWN/WINDOW SIGNS FOR SALE!
ATTENTION 5TH GRADE AND KINDERGARTEN FAMILIES!
PURCHASE A LAWN/WINDOW SIGN FOR $10 to honor a Culver City High School 2023 graduate, the promotion of a CCMS 8th grader, or the promotion of a 5th grader or Kinder student at each of our 5 Culver City Elementary schools (Farragut, El Marino, El Rincon, Linwood E. Howe, or La Ballona).
Signs are great for students, parents, teachers, and staff! Each sign is 24″ by 18″ full color. Metal “H” stake included. Can also be displayed in a window.
LAWN SIGNS ARE IN STOCK NOW!
Lawn signs will be available for pick-up or purchase on THURSDAY, MARCH 16 from 4pm to 5pm in the parking lot between Farragut Elementary School and Culver City Middle School. Alternate pick-up/sales dates will be held from March through May and at El Marino's Open House on March 22.
THE LAWN SIGN SALE WILL END ON June 5 AT 12pm OR WHILE SUPPLIES LAST.
This fundraiser is sponsored by the Culver City High School PTSA. All proceeds for each school’s lawn sign sales will go to the CCHS PTSA to be reinvested back into the school and used for scholarships for the senior class.

2023 SILENT AUCTION
Reminder to all parents, we have our Silent Auction between April 21st to May 5th. The funds raised from this auction will support ALLEM.

- Are you creative? Could you make a basket with your homemade/creative items for the auction?

MATH OLYMPIAD NEEDS VOLUNTEERS!
CCUSD HAS 13 MATH OLYMPIAD teams participating in the April 22nd tournament!
And even more exciting, El Marino has 2 teams in the tournament, coached by Maestra Bell and Plehn Sensei!
Regrettably, the parent network before the pandemic is broken and we must rebuild as soon as possible. Our tournament success is dependent upon parent volunteers.

MONTHLY SCHOOL TOURS ARE FOR NEW FAMILIES TO CCUSD AND INCOMING 6th GRADE FAMILIES
Please sign up on the Google Form to reserve your spot.
Tours are on the 3rd Friday of the month from 9:00- 10:00 am.
- Friday, April 21st
- Friday, May 19th
The 1 hour will include a presentation overview of CCMS followed by a walking school tour.
All tours are capped at 100 people. Every individual attending MUST sign up.
These tours are designed specifically for parents and incoming NEW students to the district, but no student will be turned away should parent choose to bring them. If you do bring your child, when they return to El Marino to finish their school day, their tardy will be excused.
Please meet at the front blue gate by the CCMS main office.
Parking is limited, please be aware of street parking restrictions.
A reminder email will be sent the day before the tour.
