Mindful Minute: Is your student getting enough sleep? Sleep is crucial for high school students' physical health, cognitive function, and emotional well-being. It enhances memory, focus, and learning, while reducing stress and mood swings. Using mindfulness reduces stress and calms the mind by focusing on the present moment, which helps ease anxiety and racing thoughts. Techniques like deep breathing and meditation activate relaxation responses, making it easier to fall asleep and improving sleep quality, promoting both mental and physical rejuvenation. Trouble falling asleep? Try counting your breaths: breathe in 1, out 2, in 3, out 4, until you get to 10. Try this a few times to experience calm and relaxation, for better sleep.

IB Update
Recently, the IB Art and Theory of Knowledge students went on a field trip down to Denver's River North (RiNo) district to engage with the street art scene. The trip to Denver’s leading Art District proved to be an exceptional blend of education, creativity, and community engagement. RiNo, known for its vibrant and ever-evolving street art scene, offered a unique opportunity for students to explore the intersection of art, culture, and social commentary. The field trip resonated with students on multiple levels. Many expressed a newfound appreciation for street art as a legitimate and powerful art form. Several students remarked that the experience challenged their preconceived notions of graffiti and introduced them to the complexities of public art.
The trip fostered critical thinking, cultural awareness, and creativity. The opportunity to observe professional artists’ work also inspired students who are aspiring creatives themselves. The Denver RiNo Street Art Tour was a memorable and enriching experience that combined education with inspiration. It successfully demonstrated how art can serve as a bridge between diverse communities and as a catalyst for meaningful dialogue. This trip was a huge success and we hope to repeat or expand upon it in the future.
