Northview HS Newsletter
November 12 , 2024 Volume 2, Number 12
Northview Familia,
Northview High School students once again earned the highest average daily attendance (95.48%) amongst all high schools in the district. Please continue to have conversations with your student regarding the importance of being at school every day. Northview High School also had the highest percentage of families submit the district's Education Benefits Form (92.1%). Keep it up, Vikings!
Congratulations to our Flag Football team on a historic season. Our team has worked tirelessly this season, displaying remarkable dedication, teamwork, and passion on the field. While we came up short against Antelope Valley High School in the CIF-SS Division 5 finals, the effort and determination you’ve shown throughout the season make this a truly memorable achievement. You’ve made us proud, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this incredible group of athletes.
Congratulations to our Football team and Girls tennis teams on their incredible seasons. Although their playoff runs ended earlier than we had hoped for, both teams showed great determination all season long.
A huge congratulations to the Spirit of Northview Marching Band for placing 2nd in Division 1A at their competition at Los Altos High School this past weekend. Our Percussion placed 8th. Please see pictures below. Our band will compete at the South Hills Field Show this Thursday at District Field at 4:45pm.
If you are taking an AP Exam, please make sure to complete payment using our Total Registration website: https://user.totalregistration.net/AP/050703
Have a great week, Vikings!

AVID Future Ready
AVID students have multiple guest speakers per month, sometimes per week. This past week, we were fortunate to have La Sierra University, UC Merced, and one of our very own former NHS Alumni, Keila Rodriguez. Keila graduated from Northview HS, attended Mt. Sac, transferred to CSULA earned her BA in English and now is earning her Masters Degree at CSULA. She is studying to become a clinical school counselor. Keila is an exemplary role model of hard work and dedication. Keila was not in AVID, but she was in ELD, and here at Northview we truly feel ELD is an extension of AVID because if a student is meeting A-G and reclassifies, we make sure they continue their journey of success towards College or a University though AVID. We are very proud of Keil

Staff Spotlight
We would like to shine some light on an amazing instructional aide of ours, Mrs. Diane Shellman. Mrs. Shellman has been a C-VUSD instructional aide for 24 years! Mrs. Shellman loves being around the smiles and energy that kids bring to school everyday. It lifts her up and helps her see the world in a positive way. Not to mention, the teachers appreciate her hard work and dedication to students!
In Mrs. Shellman's spare time she loves catching a Dodgers game. She is a true blue fan. She also loves camping, especially now that she has a trailer! Her dining favorite is Vince's Spaghetti (which is quite literally the BEST spaghetti place in SoCal). She is also a fan of In & Out. Who can blame her?
Mrs. Shellman has brought a lot of help to students and teachers over the course of her career. Students will always remember her patience and support. Thank you, Mrs. Shellman.
