RES Weekly Buzz
June 6, 2025
These last few weeks of the school year are always full of fun events as we celebrate the accomplishments of our students throughout the year. Between field trips, concerts, grade level presentations and activities outside of school, I am grateful for your continued support and encouragement. And many thanks for adjusting your schedules to be at these wonderful celebrations and events.
Monday morning our chamber groups, advanced band and orchestra performed a short concert for families in the school library. What a pleasure it was to listen to beautiful and fun music and hear the progress these dedicated students have made this year! It was a great way to kick off a busy week.
On Tuesday night our 4th graders hosted the State Fair Night at RES. Each student chose a state to research and then created a beautiful trifold exhibiting all the new information they learned. They also sang the song "Fifty Nifty United States" which was spectacular! Many hours went into completing these projects and I am so proud of all their diligence!
Our kindergarten, 1st and 3rd graders welcomed their families on Thursday afternoon where they shared some of their amazing accomplishments from this year. Our kindergarten students shared their beautifully written books where they let their imaginations fly. The 1st graders enjoyed an author's picnic and our 3rd graders shared their animal research projects with their families. It was a fun afternoon spent celebrating the work of these young scholars!
And Thursday morning the juggling club put on quite a show for their families and other community members who visited. The talent and enthusiasm among this group is wonderful to see! Congratulations to all our students on their progress throughout this year.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Amy

RMS Summer Reading for Students Entering Grade 6
RMS Summer Reading Program
We know it’s still May, but we are excited to reveal the book titles for RMS’s summer reading program. Please take some time to check out these great titles!
After utilizing multiple sources (book lists, librarians, and staff recommendations), a diverse group of titles was selected to engage our students. That being said, please note that the proposed books may not be appropriate for all readers. Given the wide variety of content, themes, text complexity, format, and language usage, please support your child in making a decision that makes the most sense for your family. 6th and 7th grade students will have time in class to explore these titles with their ELA classes.
Fifth-grade students will meet with Ms. Fauci and Mr. McCarthy (Mrs. Notte’s class on May 14th and Mr. Swanson’s class on June 2nd) to explore book choices and find out about these titles.
Check out our summer reading website for more information and to view the selected books. For students entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, your child’s required reading will include one book from our Community Reading List.
When your child is ready, they can make their book selection.
If you need guidance, reach out to Kriisten Fauci (kfauci@rpk12.org) and/or your school and local librarians for additional information. We hope you find an awesome book to read this summer.

RES Field Day
As we approach the end of the school year, we’re excited to be preparing for one of our favorite traditions—Field Day! We’re reaching out for parent volunteers to help run activity stations throughout the day. If you’re available and willing to lend a hand, we’d love your support!
Here’s the schedule for Field Day:
Wednesday, June 11th
Rain date: Thursday, June 12th
Grades K–2: 11:45 AM–3:00 PM
Notes from Nurse Warren
Please remember to turn in a copy of your child's latest annual physical and immunization record.
As June temperatures rise and lots of fun activities are happening outside (ex, field day), PLEASE remember the following:
1) If your child experiences seasonal allergies (sneezing, runny nose, congestion, itchy eyes, etc.) in the springtime, please make sure to give them an over-the-counter treatment (as advised by your pediatrician) before sending them to school. This can help make your child feel more comfortable during outdoor activities that occur during the school day.
2) Please make sure your child brings a water bottle and nut-free snack to school every single day.
3) Do not send your child to school in sandals or flip flops. These types of shoes increase your child's risk of falls and injuries!
4) Remember to check your children each day for ticks.
If your child has medications, inhalers, and/or Epi-Pens in the health office this year, an authorized adult must pick it up by 12:00 PM on the last day of school June 16, 2025.
If your child will need a medication, inhaler, or Epi-Pen in school for the 2025-2026 school year, new forms are required to be filled out. The Medication Administration form, Authorization To Treat form, and Asthma Action Plan form (for inhalers) are all available under the Health Services link on the rpk12.org website.
The District is in need of Substitute nurses. Apply here
If you have any questions, please call the RES health office at 978-546-1223.

Power of Produce(POP) with Rockport Farmers Market
Join the POP Club!
The Rockport Farmers Market is very excited to be offering the “Power of Produce” (“POP”) program again this summer!! Last summer over 250 children signed up to purchase farm fresh vegetables to eat and share with their families!
The POP Club program seeks to empower children, ages 4-12, to make healthier food choices while supporting local farmers and local food producers. Each child will receive $5 POP Dollars at every Saturday market they attend to use to purchase produce from our local vendors. This encourages children to actively engage with their produce suppliers and to make nutritious choices. Through its innovative approach, the POP Club program inspires families to prioritize fresh, local foods and cultivates a lifelong appreciation for healthy eating habits in children.
The Rockport Farmers Market opens this season at Rockport’s Harvey Park on Saturday June 14 and runs every Saturday through October 11 from 9 AM to 1 PM. All children must be accompanied by a parent to sign up and participate in POP Club.
Check out our website to sign up and more information: rockportexchange.org.
We look forward to seeing you there!
