Hello Kegonsa Families,
This week may have been short, but it was full of learning, laughter, and plenty of flexibility! Our students and staff have shown incredible adaptability, embracing each day’s activities and changes with positivity and resilience. It’s inspiring to see everyone leaning into new experiences and supporting one another. Enjoy the weekend, and don't forget to set your clocks back on Sunday.

Fall Family Conferences
Our art teacher, Mrs. Kolin, was missing Mr. Jensen and Mrs. Benson during our second day of parent/teacher conferences. They were off learning and growing at conferences geared toward music and physical education teachers.
Do you know who we didn't miss? YOU! We didn’t miss hardly any of our families during fall conferences! We had an incredible turnout, with 97% attendance! Thank you all for showing up and supporting your kiddos and Kegonsa. Your engagement and partnership make a world of difference!
1st Grade visited Busy Barns
Last week, we had the best time at Busy Barns! Our 1st graders experienced a day full of fun and adventure. Here are some highlights from our trip:
🐴 We fed animals! The kids loved getting up close with goats, sheep, and chickens, learning all about their care and habits.
🐷 We played on all sorts of fun equipment! From climbing structures to interactive games, there was no shortage of excitement.
🚜 We (even some teachers!) went down the giant slides! The laughter and cheers filled the air as everyone took turns zooming down.
A huge thank you to our amazing parent volunteers for helping make this memorable day possible. We can’t wait for our next adventure!
Veterans Day Lunch Invitation
We’re excited to invite parents, grandparents, and special family members who are active military members or veterans to join us for a memorable lunch with their student’s class on Veterans Day, November 11th! This gathering is a meaningful way for us to honor and thank our loved ones for their service.
If you or a family member would like to attend, please RSVP with your student’s homeroom teacher.
We look forward to celebrating together!
Shining Gilly Award Winners!
What is the Shining Gilly Award?
The Shining Gilly Award recognizes students who go above and beyond to show exceptional care for others or our school. These students exemplify the qualities we strive to nurture in all of our little citizens—kindness, responsibility, and a positive impact on their community. Whether it's an individual or a group of students, those who receive this award truly reflect the values we hold dear at our school.
Congratulations to Mason (Kinder) and Grayson (4th)!
Counseling Updates
Help Kids Manage Negative Thoughts from Renee Jain with GoZen
The other day, I found myself singing a song to my kids that I loved when I was their age. The lyrics came back to me effortlessly, even after all these years. It reminded me just how powerful songs can be—how they stay with us, influence our emotions, and shape how we see the world.
That got me thinking... many of the kids and teens we work with struggle with negative thoughts—thoughts that can feel heavy and hard to manage. What if we could harness the power of music to help them handle those thoughts in a healthier way?
That’s exactly what inspired this week’s offering: “I’m Noticing.” This new song is designed to help kids and teens simply notice their thoughts—without letting those thoughts define them or take control.

Calling All Volunteers! We Need Your Help in the Library 📚
Our school library is a hub of learning and discovery, and we could use some extra hands to keep it running smoothly. Whether you love organizing, reading, or just want to lend a helping hand, we’d love your support!
Volunteers are needed for tasks like shelving books, assisting students, and keeping our space inviting for all. Any amount of time you can offer makes a big difference!
If you're interested in volunteering, please contact Mrs. Southern or stop by the office for more information. Thank you for helping us create a thriving library space for our students!

School Hours 7:35-3:00
Office hours: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
School hours: 7:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Doors open at 7:35 a.m.
Please try to get your student to school by 7:35 every day. It gives your students ample time to get to their locker, chat with friends, and grab breakfast. We start our morning meeting at 7:45 and it is hard for kids to walk in late to the classroom when everyone is already begun the day.
If students are not in their classroom at 7:45 they will be marked tardy.
