TVHS Family Newsletter
August 8th, 2024
24 - 25 Parent Newsletter - Issue #22
Hello Golden Bear Families,
Welcome back from our three-day MLK weekend and Presidential Inauguration Day! We hope you had a chance to relax and recharge.
Last week was an exciting one on campus! Our athletic teams were in full swing, showing tremendous spirit and energy. The highlight was the Annual Battle for the Belt wrestling tournament, where our wrestler delivered outstanding performances and amazing Grit—congratulations to all who participated!
Additionally, we had a successful two-day rollout of iPads to our freshman students through their PE classes. For those who were absent during their scheduled time, there will be another opportunity to pick up iPads later this week. Please remind your students to take proper care of their new devices. Freshman students will hold onto their Chromebooks until further notice.
This week, although shorter with just four days, is packed with activities and opportunities:
- Wednesday: Join us for the Academic Fair during lunchtime, as well as a Blood Drive at the Temecula Library.
- Thursday: The Principal’s Honor Roll celebration will take place during advisement, followed by our third English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) meeting at 5:30 PM in the TVHS Multi-Purpose (MPR) room. Later in the evening, PTSA will host a Zoom meeting at 8:00 PM.
- All Week: There’s lots of athletic action happening! Be sure to check the athletic calendar in the newsletter for game schedules and updates. Come out and cheer on our Golden Bear teams!
Looking ahead, Saturday is our January Golden Bear Saturday School. This is a great opportunity for students to receive additional academic support, clear excessive tardies and absences, and access behavioral resources. More details about this program can be found later in the newsletter.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement. We’re excited about the opportunities this week offers for our students, families, and staff to connect and thrive. We hope to see you at these events!
Have A Great Week! Go Bears!
Mrs. Lione
SAFETY DRILL
Save the date- Friday Feb 7, 2025 TVHS will be having a school lock down and earth quake drill during advisement. There will be NO student or staff movement, entry or dismissals during the drill time period.
AP Information Sessions
Golden Bears/Families,
Your student may have received a letter at the end of the semester outlining AP Potential based on their performance on the PSAT that was taken in October. As course selection is approaching, we wanted to provide students an opportunity to hear more about the various Advanced Placement (AP) courses that are available to them to take next year. AP Teachers will be offering information sessions during Advisement over the next few weeks where students will be able to attend and hear more information about the specific course and ask any questions.
Please complete the Google form indicating which course sessions you would like to attend so that a 5-Star pass can be sent.
Students - you MUST check in with your Advisement teacher and show them your pass prior to attending.
ELAC
Join us on February 6th, 2025 at 5:30pm in the TVHS Multipurpose Room to celebrate the academic accomplishments of our multilingual Golden Bear students. This meeting will serve as our English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meeting #3 for the 2024-2025 school-year. Students being recognized at this celebration will receive invitations, and parents/guardians will be contacted to RSVP on or before January 24th. All are welcome, as we will also review resources to assist students in preparing for the upcoming ELPAC assessment that is set to begin in late February 2025.
Farewell - Mr. Dom & Miss Lucy
As we reflect on the impact they've made, we want to celebrate the incredible work that both Mr. Dom and Miss Lucy have done with our ELD students. Their dedication, passion, and care have shaped the lives of so many, and they have become beloved members of our TVHS family.
As often happens with wonderful people, they are embarking on new and exciting adventures, and so we will be bidding them farewell soon. While we will miss them dearly, we also know that great things await them.
Our students got together last week to send them off with our deepest gratitude and hope their time at TVHS is something they’ll always carry with them— and, who knows, maybe their paths will eventually lead them back to us!
Thank you, Mr. Dom and Miss Lucy, for everything you’ve done. You will always have a special place in our hearts. Wishing you both all the best on your next adventures!
A huge shout-out to Mario DeCaro, Lyndon Campbell, and Veronica Kubes for their hard work in making this year’s Battle for the Belt another resounding success! We truly appreciate everyone’s support and patience—especially on such a busy day. A special congratulations to Justus El Sayad, who proudly represented TVHS in the Championship round. We couldn’t be more proud of his effort!
In addition to this, we’re thrilled to share that TVHS Athletics has gone international once again! A heartfelt thank you to Chris Cullen, Director of the California School of English, and the athletes from Numata High School in Hiroshima, Japan, for joining our track team for an unforgettable joint workout. This was an amazing opportunity for cultural exchange and athletic camaraderie, and a great time was had by all!
Thank you again to everyone who continues to support TVHS Athletics. Your involvement and enthusiasm help make these events possible and meaningful. We look forward to more exciting moments ahead!
Go Bears!!!
