Growing Together
A note from your Principal
My oh my are we having a great week around school celebrating the pillars of character and learning about Chemistry all around us. All of this fun while learning wouldn't be possible without our incredibly dedicated employees. We were excited to be able to give a bonus to all employees using a portion of our A+ school funds as we know how much our teams gives every day.
Keep checking out our social media for all that happening as this is the crazy, busy, and fun time of year and thanks for the support of our families and participation of our students in making Clark THE place to be for high school!
In gratitude always,
Dr. Judd

Weekly Tidbits- 10/21-10/25
Today is Make a Difference Monday. Has a Clark employee made a difference in your life this year? If so, email who it is and why they have been a positive influence to you to Dr. Judd by the end of this week so they can be recognized for a Crane staff award.
Today is Take Care Tuesday and soon we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week. The best way to take care of your mind and body is to not use substances like caffeine in high doses in energy drinks, marijuana, nicotine, alcohol, and too much fast food even. If you need help stopping the use of substances, you can seek confidential help from Mrs. Shepherd.
Today is Way to Go Wednesday and we want to shout out Grady McClory who is consistently kind to others. Specifically, this morning, he helped hold the door for Dr. Judd who was walking in with her arms full. Small acts of kindness do matter!
Today is Think about it Thursday. Our pillar today is Trustworthy which is defined as having integrity, doing what you say you’ll do, being honest, keeping promises, being loyal and standing by your values. Think about whether others can call you trustworthy and can you say that about those you choose as friends.
Today is Fun Fact Friday and the fifth and last day of National Chemistry Week—we hoped you learned something. Here are the fun facts for today!
The only letter that doesn’t appear in the periodic table is ‘J’
Dry ice is the solid form of carbon dioxide
Even though oxygen gas is colorless, the liquid and solid forms of oxygen are blue.

IRSC Student Help Desk now active We are pleased to announce the creation of a Student Help Desk! The Help Desk is available to assist students with Blackboard, Honorlock, Brainfuse, MyPioneerPortal, Microsoft 365, Adobe products, general troubleshooting, and virtual support via Microsoft Teams. Please refer students to StudentHelpDesk@irsc.edu or 772-462-7039.
IRSC email issues/ password resets- As shared previously, only STUDENTS can request a password reset and no one at Clark has the credentials to help. Students MUST email Info@irsc.edu with their name, date of birth, IRSC Student ID number, or IRSC RiverMail email to request a password reset for their MyPioneerPortal accounts. Parents, guardians, or representatives of the student are not permitted to request a password reset on behalf of the student. This underscores the student's responsibility as the account holder. Thank you. Indian River State College Student Communications Center

Attendance and Tardy Concerns- ACTION NEEDED
Below are some reminders from the handbook. Attendance enforcement will be a focus for this upcoming quarter.
Handbook Reminders:
· Students must attend all scheduled courses the entire day to participate in after-school and/or weekend activities.
· Tardiness is defined as an arrival to class after the designated start time. Tardies will be identified as excused/unexcused in FOCUS according to the same guidelines as absences.*
· To have an absence excused, a parent/guardian must email, call, or send a written note into Student Services within two school days explaining the reason for absence and the specific dates and/or times to be excused.*
*See page 10 in the handbook for accepted reasons for absences.
· If the student must leave campus before the end of his/her scheduled school day, the following steps must be taken:
1. See Student Services in Room 218.
§ Provide a note from the parent or receive an email form the parent that the student will leave early
2. Student Services contacts parent/guardian to verify the note or email. In the case the student needs to leave and has not provided a note/email prior Student Services will contact the parent/guardian to obtain permission to leave early.
3. Upon receiving permission to leave, the student and parent, if picking the student up, must sign out in the logbook located at the front desk.
§ Before a student can be released to anyone, authorization must be verified through Student Services.
4. Students scheduled to be in a class in the Clark building are NEVER to leave the building without the knowledge of a Clark employee.
All things safety and behavioral expectations
Attention students- we know you love to smell nice and Bath and Body works is full of fun scents, however, we have students and staff members with asthma and other allergies that make it difficult to breathe when these are sprayed or worn heavily. Please be considerate and use a minimal amount and never spray in classrooms, hallways, or restrooms.
Full handbook and code of conduct:
Safety reminder- p. 14 of our handbook states, "Headphones/ear buds must be used by any student playing audio within the common areas. For safety reasons, only 1 earbud may be used." We have given several warnings, but ongoing defiance with this will lead to referrals and consequences, including confiscation.
Student ID cards- Cards will be active from 7:00 am- 3:00 pm when school is in session. It is imperative that you have your ID on you at all times as this is a key to the building, used for textbooks check out, scanning into FOCUS if tardy, and more. Please remember that you may not open doors for anyone without an ID card, even if they are a good friend. Those without ID cards must come through the front doors and complete the online form at the front desk indicating you forgot or lost your ID. New IDs are $10 each. If you know you lost your ID please report to Mrs. Farias with $10 and have a new one printed.
Students SHOULD NEVER take photos of or video of ANY students or staff without their explicit permission. Beyond being a violation of our code of conduct, it could potentially also be a criminal offense. Having your cellphone on campus is a privilege. If you use it inappropriately (taking unauthorized photos, posting unauthorized photos or video to social media) on campus you may be required to turn it in and pick it up at the end of each day.
Older Info you may need to access
We have some water bottles in our lost and found at the front desk. Any items not claimed by the end of the quarter will be donated.
Do you play a fall sport? Make sure to submit your schedule to the office so we can excuse absences/ early releases. We'd also LOVE to have action shots and success stories to celebrate our athletes on social media and in the yearbook. These can be sent to ljudd@irsc.edu
**AUTHORIZED ACCESS ONLY** to the upstairs unless you have a specific reason to be there:
- **Attending a Class**
- **Visiting Mr. Watson**
- **Going to the Clinic (Room 218)**
Communication- we rely heavily on email. Students will always receive Clark info to the Clark email address. Parents/ guardians- If you want a different email than the one this came to, email ljudd@irsc.edu and CC kfarias1@irsc.edu and we will try to get all systems updated. If someone in your life should be added, please also email us.
