Parking can be very hard around Covington at arrival and dismissal. Please refrain from parking in the staff parking lot during these times of day. These spots are dedicated to our hard working teachers.

Please mark your calendars. Covington Elementary School's Open House will be held on Wednesday, September 6th from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

We will begin NWEA Map testing Wednesday, August 30th and continue Thursday, August 31st. This is a change from the last Weekly Cat Tales.

Please make sure to send your child well rested and with a charged Chromebook.

School District 123 defines Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) as a framework consisting of academic, social-emotional, and behavioral supports. All D123 students’ developmental needs are met through high quality, research-based instruction and interventions tailored to his or her unique learning style. In addition to tailoring instruction to unique learning styles, School District 123 strives to implement the MTSS Framework in a culturally responsive and systemically consistent manner.

Ultimately, the goal of D123’s MTSS framework is to meet the needs of all unique learners, and in doing so, identify students who are struggling and intervene quickly. The MTSS framework consists of three tiers of instruction.

On Friday, August 25, the PTO and Mrs. Holland welcomed new members to our Covington family. Below is a picture of the proud parents of the 2030 graduates of Covington Elementary School! It was a great morning spending time discussing the experiences their child will have at Covington. Please see the presentation below that was shared with new families

There are specific requirements for students entering preschool, kindergarten, second grade and sixth grade, as well as for all new students. Visit our Health Forms & Guidelines page for more information. Please note that these vaccinations and/or health examinations are required by state law.

We strongly encourage you to join our PTO at Covington. We work together to provide many different events throughout the school year for the students. We always work with our volunteers to set them up for success. We will be offering all of the possible sign ups at the first meeting. Please consider joining this organization.

Beginning with the 2023-24 school year on August 24th, families who do not qualify for free or reduced lunch will have to pay for school meals. Students whose families are eligible for free or reduced-price breakfast or lunch will be able to access meals next school year at no cost or a discounted rate. The cost is as follows.

• Breakfast: $1.60
• Lunch (including milk): $3.15.
• A la carte milk: $0.65 cents.

At this time, the federal government has not extended the waivers for next school year to allow free meals for all students. As a result, schools across the nation will be reverting back to free and reduced-price meals based on income eligibility guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
