Adams Middle School Dress Code Policy
As the weather gets warmer, we want to remind everyone of our school's dress code expectations. At Adams, we believe that student dress should support a positive learning environment and promote safety for everyone in our school community. While students and families may choose their personal style, all clothing must align with the following expectations:
❌ Not Allowed at School: ❌
-
Inappropriate Graphics or Messages:
Clothing with images or language that is lewd, offensive, vulgar, obscene, or promotes alcohol, drugs, or illegal substances. -
Costume Items:
Items meant to resemble costumes are not permitted. This includes things like:-
Animal ears or tails
-
Capes
-
Any accessory that may be considered a distraction or safety concern
-
-
Revealing Clothing:
Clothing must fully cover the waist, stomach, chest, back, and undergarments. The following are examples of items that are not allowed:-
Crop tops or midriff shirts
-
Low-cut tops
-
Shirts with large side openings
-
Sheer or see-through clothing that reveals undergarments
-
-
Strapless or Narrow-Strap Tops:
All straps must be at least 2 inches wide. This means no tank tops, spaghetti straps, muscle shirts, or other similar tops. -
Short Shorts or Skirts:
All shorts, skirts, and dresses must be longer than the student's fingertips when their arms are resting at their sides.
We appreciate your support in helping students come to school dressed for success. If you have any questions or need clarification about the dress code, please contact the main office.
Let’s work together to maintain a safe and respectful learning environment for all students.
Ski Masks are Prohibited at School
Dear Families,
We want to inform you that ski masks are prohibited at school. Students have been wearing them on their heads like hats, which has led to disruptions in our building and the learning environment. Unfortunately, this has turned into a game among students, chasing each other, trying to take the masks, and engaging in horseplay that can lead to frustration and conflict.
We ask that all students leave ski masks at home to keep our school environment safe and focused on learning. If a student brings or wears one to school, it will be confiscated and must be picked up by a parent. We appreciate your support in reinforcing this expectation at home. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
Thank you!
Mrs. Bukosky
AMS Principal

Art Show and Band Concert
This week, our talented students wowed us with their creativity and musical skills at the annual Art Show and Band Concert! The event featured impressive student artwork on display and a fantastic band performance that truly showcased our students' hard work and talent. Huge thanks to our amazing art and music teachers for organizing such a special night. We’re so proud of our students!
Attention 8th graders: If you will be attending Wayne Memorial High School next year and you are interested in participating in Sideline Cheer... Tryouts will be coming up on June 2nd and 3rd. Yes, you heard that correctly! Sideline Cheer is the one sport we offer that has tryouts before August. You must bring a copy of your sports physical with you and it needs to be signed and dated by a doctor AFTER April 15th of 2024 to try out. Please attend BOTH days of tryouts. For more information, you may pick up a flyer in the main office.
Summer Discovery Program
Corewell Clinic
The Corewell clinic is working with a local optometrist to get a few of our students free eye exams and glasses. Spots are limited to students with no insurance at the moment. Students must be screened in the clinic first between April 28th to May 1st. If you don't have a consent on file, we can send one via email. Please call the clinic to schedule an appointment for this opportunity, 734-728-2423.
Get your sports physicals in for the new school year. Getting a sports physical done in May, June or July is a great option to beat the rush. After April 15, the sports physical is valid for the entire 2025-2026 school year. Please call the clinic to schedule a sports physical, 734-728-2423. You will never get a bill from us and we will never turn anyone away due to inability to pay. The clinic can also assist parents/guardians with applying to Medicaid.
Community Advisory Council
The Corewell Clinic is looking for parents to join our Community Advisory Council. The CAC meets 4 times a year at John Glenn High School. We discuss how the clinic impacts student health, clinic policies, and how we can improve our services. See attached flyer to sign up.
Bus Cancellations
If your child's bus is canceled, please make sure to inform the school by calling the attendance line or emailing our counseling secretary Mrs. Chene. Let them know that the absence is due to a bus cancellation. The secretary will mark your child's attendance with a "B" for bus cancellation, which will not count against them for truancy purposes. chenek@wwcsd.net
