FROM THE PRINCIPALS
Greetings CMIT-South Family,
We have come to the end of another successful week of school! We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the families who were able to join us for our Block Party last Friday! It was a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, and we are grateful to everyone who made it a success. A special thank you goes to our PTO for sponsoring the event, and to the many parents who volunteered their time and energy to make sure everything ran smoothly. Your support is truly appreciated!
On a very serious note, over the past few weeks, a dangerous social media trend has been making headlines. While this has not been a serious concern for us at CMIT-South Middle/High School, we want you to know that the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority and we are monitoring our students closely and providing support as needed. Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS) is working closely with the Prince George's County Police Department to investigate any potential threats and respond accordingly. Please be aware that students making such threats will face serious consequences, including disciplinary action as outlined in the Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook, and could be subject to criminal charges by local law enforcement.
We kindly ask families to have conversations with their scholars about the importance of social media safety and being responsible digital citizens. Encourage your child to report any threats they see on social media to a trusted adult, and to immediately inform school staff of any suspicious objects they may notice in the building or on school grounds.
Your partnership is critical in helping us keep our school safe. We also ask for your support in monitoring your child’s social media use and guiding them to make responsible choices online.
Thank you for your continued support and for working with us to create a safe, positive environment for all students. Have a safe and great weekend!
