THMS Student Update
April 2025
Dear Badger Community,
The weeks are flying by during this final quarter of the year. There is excitement in the air for our graduating Senior Class of 2025. We are hosting a Senior/ Parent Meeting for the Class of 2025 on Thursday, April 3rd, at 5:30 p.m. in the Auditorium. We will present information on all the details and events leading to our May 21st Graduation Ceremony and we encourage Seniors and a parent or guardian to attend this important meeting.
On Tuesday, April 1st, we will be on a Test Schedule. Our 9th grade students will take the ACT Aspire Test, 10th grade will take the ASVAB, and 11th grade will take the ACT. Students should check the posted lists in the Main and Tech Buildings to see their testing location. Please make an effort to be on campus by 8:00 a.m. as these are timed tests and being at school on on time will reduce the number of make-up tests we need to administer.
Next Saturday, April 5th, our Student Council is hosting the Tucson High Magnet School Prom at the Tucson Convention Center! Please see information about the event below. We can't wait to see our students celebrate this traditional rite of passage!
We hope you all enjoy a wonderful April!
Best,
Catherine Comstock
Interim Principal,
Tucson High Magnet School

Attention Senior Class of 2025!

They are accepting applications through Monday, March 31st so we encourage students to apply early. Please see the attached form for additional information.
Arizona Model United Nations
The Arizona Model United Nations went really well this past weekend! The following students received awards:
- Felista Nabintu: Best Delegate-Honorable Mention as the delegate of the Russian Federation on the committee for the United Nations Environmental Programme.
- Esther Nema: Best Delegate-Honorable Mention as the delegate of the Kingdom of Sweden on the committee for the European Union.
- Mikaela Milczarek: Best Position Paper as the delegate of the Russian Federation on the Security Council.
- Aubrey Bright: Best Position Paper as the delegate of the Russian Federation on the Security Council.
Twenty students represented Tucson High Magnet School this year at the AZMUN63, which is five more than last year. Students appeared to have a great time and represented our school well, which is no easy feat considering they were busy from roughly 8:00 am to 9:00 pm on Saturday and 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sunday.
Student Travel Club
The Tucson High Travel Club had a wonderful trip to Switzerland during Spring Break! 20 students and 3 teachers (Ms. Hoff, Mr. Huffman, and Ms. Reed) experienced sustainable Swiss travel by train from Zurich to Geneva, with visits to Thun, Lausanne, Interlaken, and Gruyeres. Our students made us all proud with their stellar behavior, inquisitive minds and open hearts. They hiked through caves, stood on a glacier at the top of the Alps, said "Danke" or "Merci" where appropriate, and even made their own chocolates.
Thank you!

Marshall-Brennan National Moot Court Competition 2025
Ms. Deborah Dimmet's AP Language and Composition students participated in a national competition in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, over Spring Break. Students have been preparing for this since November. The students had an in-class competition and two students, Jeweliana Baray and Ximena Ojeda, were selected to compete in the National Championship. The sponsor of this program provided an attorney, Ray English, who drove to Tucson each Wednesday to work with the students on their synthesis and argumentation skills. Congratulations to these students for their outstanding work in arguing their case.
Author Nic Stone Visit Tucson High!
On Monday, 3/17, we had the incredible honor of hosting New York Times bestselling author Nic Stone for an inspiring discussion about writing, creativity, and her latest book, Dear Manny. Students engaged with Stone in a lively Q&A session, gaining valuable insights into her writing process and getting to know more about her as a person. Ms. Marshall's ELA 12 African American Viewpoints class also enjoyed an intimate conversation with the author before the larger event. Thanks to the generosity of AZ Humanities, every student who attended will receive a signed copy of Dear Manny. It was an unforgettable experience that left students motivated and excited about literature!

TUSD Bond Program
Bond Improvements Begin at THMS
Construction has begun at Tucson High Magnet School! We have recently received upgrades in our Auto Shops and the field lights in our stadium have been replaced! The new lights feature color changes and can flash to music. These campus improvements are being provided with the support of the TUSD Bond Oversight Committee, the Tucson Unified Governing Board, and our Tucson community.
Our next projects will start this summer with the replacement of our Sewer and Water Lines and long-awaited renovations and repairs to the Vocational āVā Building which will modernize classrooms spaces for students. We invite all members of the community to attend TUSD's Virtual Town Hall on Thursday, April 3rd from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Check out: https://bond2023.tusd1.org/
Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project as we work together to create better learning spaces for our community!
