We will be transitioning from SMORE to Parent Square for our parent newsletters in the next few months and you need to have an active account to open the newsletter. Tutoring Center Now Open! Seeking tutors for the tutoring center on MONDAYS and or WEDNESDAYS from 2:40-3:20. 2 hours of service are provided for each session. Interested students, please select the following link to sign up or contact Ms. Jackson Floback for more information.

Tutoring During the School Day Are you an upperclassmen with a study hall that would like to volunteer to help younger students? Please use the following link to sign up today for tutoring during the school day. You will earn 2 hours of time for your participation each day you tutor.

Blazette Dance Invitational The Blazette Dance Invite is Saturday, November 16th from approx 9:30-4. Each volunteer will receive a ticket for a free slice of pizza and a bottle of water! I have attached the sign-up link.

Childcare at Nicollet Middle School Help is needed for childcare for youth k-5 for a parent seminar on Oct. 22, Jan. 14, and Feb. 18. Please select the date of your choice to sign up.

BrainPower in a BackPack in Main Cafeteria After School

BrainPower in a BackPack is offered as a volunteer opportunity each Thursday afterschool from 2:36-3:20. 1 hour of service is given for participation. Please join us and help provide food support to students and their families as BrainPower gets ready for the weekly Thursday food pack for 750 students across the district.

The Free Book Buggie. Each Saturday will be the Free Book Buggie book sort event from 10a-12p or Tuesday after school in C100. This event asks volunteers to count book donations, sort donated books by reading level and category, and load books into buggy for upcoming events. *Free T-Shirt available in Ms. Jackson Floback’s office

Food Resources Data VerificationHUNGER FREE AMERICA is a nonpartisan, national nonprofit group working to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food.

Hunger Free America needs your help creating the most current database of food resources. The crowd-sourced information will be freely available to all who might need assistance and will help the national USDA Hunger Hotline provide the most current information to callers.

Event description:

• This is an entirely virtual event that can be done on your own schedule.

• Complete the registration form on the Hunger Free America website and they will contact you with details to get started.

• Call food pantries and soup kitchens to verify and update existing data in our National Database.

• This is an ongoing need that you can continue to work on for as much time as you'd like.

Volunteers should be reasonably comfortable with web based tools, have access to a laptop/computer & stable internet.

Friendship Bracelet for People Experiencing Food Insecurity Broadway Community sets an abundant table, believing that everyone deserves justice, dignity, health, and wholeness. Over the last 40 years, they have served thousands of New Yorkers experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty.

Make a friendship bracelet to brighten someone's day and give them a constant reminder that they are not alone. Include a short note wishing them well and sign it with your name and hometown (ie. Ellie from New Lenox, IL).

Election Day coming up Tuesday, Nov. 5

If you are a District 191 resident, renewal of the district’s technology levy will appear on your ballot Tuesday, Nov. 5.

The technology levy provides about $4.6 million per year to support classroom technology, learning devices (Chromebooks) and programs (Schoology and SeeSaw), technology safety and security systems and technology support staff.

Because it’s a renewal of an existing levy, there will be no tax increase if it’s approved.

You must be 18 years old on Election Day and a resident of District 191 to vote. Early voting can be done by mail or in person. Visit mnvotes.org to learn more about how to vote and to find your polling location.
