Current 8th grade families - please see the important dates below for course selection/registration for 9th grade.

January 13th: Rising 9th Grade Meeting and LT Cav Showcase at 6pm in LTHS PAC
January 14th & 15th: Rising 9th grade parent informational meetings from 7:45-9am in HBMS Library

• High school counselors will be at HBMS campus for a Q&A session

January 16th & 17th: High school counselors visit middle school (Rising 9th graders) to complete course registration

• Skyward opens on January 16th @ 6am to students and parents and will close on January 20th @ 6am

January 21-24: Counselors visit rising 7th & 8th grade classes to give presentation on course selection information and answer questions

January 29: Rising 7th & 8th grade parent information meeting for course selections at 6:30pm in the HBMS Cafeteria

January 30-31: Counselors visit rising 7th & 8th grade classes to assist students with entering course selections into Skyward

February 12: All student course selections are due in Skyward. No changes can be made after this date.

What are Interims?

• STAAR Interim Assessments are online assessments that help educators monitor student progress and predict student performance on STAAR.
• STAAR Interim Assessments are administered on the same online platform as STAAR, giving students a chance to practice with the system's functionalities.
• Interims will be running as a “Mock STAAR” so students experience day-of procedures.
• Students will be reporting to an assigned classroom with a proctor. These will be posted at the end of each grade-level house.
• Interims are not for a grade.
• Every student will take an Interim assessment.

When are Interims?

• Interims will take place on the following days:

• Science Grade 8: Tuesday, January 14th

• Social Studies Grade 8: Wednesday, January 15th

• RLA Grades 6-8: Wednesday, January 22nd

• Math & Algebra I Grades 6-8: Tuesday, January 28th

Early/Makeup Exams

• Students should be present on the above dates to take their Interim assessments.

• Students cannot take their Interims early.

• Makeup exams will be on the following dates:

• Science Grade 8: Thursday, January 16th

• Social Studies Grade 8: Friday, January 17th

• RLA 6 - 8 grades: Thursday, January 23rd

• Math & Algebra I 6 - 8 grades: Wednesday, January 29th

Registration is open through Now - Jan 19th.

Time: 7:20am - 8:20am

*Before school Homework Help has a bilingual teacher available for support!*

Days: Monday - Thursday (not offered Friday afternoons)

Time: 4:15pm - 5:15pm

Location: Room 201 (across from the main gym)

Homework Help Expectations

• Personal smart devices are not allowed to be used during this time.
• School work only - no games or socializing
• Remain in Homework Help entirety of assigned time
• Leaving early requires teacher to speak with parent

What is the Buc Lounge?

A place where any and all students are welcome to “shop” confidentially for free items they need.

What does the Buc Lounge include?

Food, personal care items, clothing, shoes, and school supplies.
