PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well! As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering an engaging and focused learning environment, I would like to remind everyone about our "Away for the Day" cell phone policy.
Studies indicate that the mere presence of a phone (even in a pocket) can distract students, making it harder to concentrate, problem-solve, and engage fully in class activities. This disruption extends beyond academic work; it also impacts the quality of social interactions, as students may be distracted by their devices, hindering the development of important interpersonal skills.
To ensure that our students are able to focus on learning, engage meaningfully with peers, and maximize their potential, we ask that all students keep their cell phones stored in their lockers throughout the school day. This policy allows for uninterrupted academic and social development, encouraging students to be present in the moment and fully involved in their educational experience.
We appreciate your support in reinforcing this policy and helping us create a positive and productive environment for all students.
Final reminder for parent/teacher conferences this Wednesday, March 12! These conferences are a valuable opportunity to connect with your student's teacher, discuss their progress, and collaborate on ways to support their learning at home. If you haven’t yet scheduled your conference, please be sure to do so using the information below. We encourage all parents/guardians to bring their student with them to conferences. We look forward to seeing you on March 12!
Sincerely,
Chris Reeve

CONFERENCES
Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled for Wednesday, March 12 from 1:30 pm - 6:30 pm.
We encourage all families, along with their student, to take advantage of this time to discuss achievements, challenges, and goals for the rest of the school year. Collaboration between home and school plays a crucial role in creating a strong support system for our students, and we’re grateful for your ongoing involvement in this process. If you are unable to attend on this day, but still want to hear from teachers, please reach out with an email or phone call.

COMMUNITY CHEER SQAUD
LIFT believes in the power of community and the value of intergenerational connection for youth. One meaningful way we can show up for local teens is by making sure that Leelanau County's student-athletes always plan with their stands full of fans. That's why we created the Community Cheer Squad! Click the link for more information.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Please use this link for scholarship information including available scholarships, timelines and events. For questions, please reach out to our High School Guidance Counselor, Meredith Schmidt.
FINANCIAL AID EVENTS
If you have a student seeking financial aid to support college tuition, please use the link below for an opportunity to attend local events to guide parents and students. Filling out the FAFSA is the gateway to federal, state and local aid such as the Community College Guarantee, Michigan Reconnect and NMC scholarships. The expert team at NMC is ready to assist you with any questions you have and guide you through the process.
