Week of 4/14/25-4/18/25
Principal's Messaage
Falcon Families,
Our first week back was a hit! Thank you to all the families who joined us for Mad Science Family Night! The fun continues this week with our Spring Festival—we can’t wait to see you there!
- Tickets are just $0.50 each, and every game costs 1 ticket.
- PTA will be selling food, and for those feeling brave…You’ll have the chance to Slime the Principal for $10! More details coming soon!
This week, 4th–6th grade students will be taking the Hanover Survey, which helps us gather student feedback on their school experience, including areas like learning, safety, and school culture. The results guide us in making improvements that better support our students.
In class, students are learning strategies to solve problems and resolve conflicts in positive ways. We encourage you to take a moment this week to talk with your children about how they can apply these skills at home and in the community.
Let’s keep the momentum going!

Friendly Reminders
Together we soar! #Partnership
- For safety reasons, students must wear flat, close-toed shoes
- Every minute of instruction counts. If your child forgets snack, lunch, or water, do not worry. Second Chance and lunch will be provided. They also have access to water fountains. We kindly ask that you refrain from dropping off any items. Let’s work together to help our falcons build responsibility.
- Please note that if your child is not picked up on time at dismissal, you'll need to sign them out from the office.
Attendance
Attendance Matters
We’re excited to welcome Ms. Jocelyne, our new Attendance Health Secretary, who officially starts on Monday! Please take a moment to stop by and give her a warm welcome.
Attendance data will begin rolling out this Friday, as we had a brief break during the vacancy. Thank you for your continued patience as we get back on track.
Let’s keep working together toward our 97% attendance goal—every day counts!
PTA Board Member Nominations Needed
A PTA connects families, teachers, and the school to support student success. With a strong PTA, we can:
-
Fundraise for field trips, supplies, and programs
-
Host fun family events
-
Support and appreciate our teachers
-
Advocate for our school
-
Build community through volunteering
Join us in making a difference—together! NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED
The Learning Pit
Continue to ask your child daily: Did you get into the Learning Pit? At Otay, we encourage students to use a growth mindset to face challenges, have a go at something new, try with a willingness to be confused or make mistakes along the way, and to persist in problem solving.
April is School Library Month!
This month, we join the American Association of School Librarians in celebrating the vital role school libraries and librarians play in student learning and success.
We're especially excited to share that our library is getting a revamp—fresh updates are underway to make it an even more welcoming and inspiring space for our students. Pictures coming soon!
A big thank you to Ms. Shelly, our amazing librarian, for all that she does to support our students and foster a love of reading!
