Dear CES SHARKS & Friends,


Please remember there is NO SCHOOL for students on Monday, November 11th for the Veterans Day holiday.


November may be a short month thanks to professional development days and holidays, but that doesn't deter us from making the most of the days we do have together. On Wednesday, November 13th CES will hold its annual Veterans Day Assembly. We are extending the window to submit photos of your veterans until Monday at 12:00 pm. Please see below for more details and how to submit photos of your favorite veterans for our slideshow.


This is also the last week for Session I clubs. Session I clubs end on Friday, November 15th. The Session II Club Catalog and Registration are coming soon. Session II clubs begin after the Thanksgiving Break.

Recess Clubs

CES is proud to bring back Recess Clubs. These small groups are run by CES teachers during the recess period. They are a great way for students to engage with peers and staff on a subject that is of great interest to them. We try to make sure that every SHARK has an opportunity to join at least one recess club over the course of the school year.


This year, we are expanding to include accelerated learning groups in mathematics and reading. Students will have the opportunity to dive deeper into each subject content area with motivated peers. The first session begins the week of November 18th and ends the Friday before February vacation.

Veterans Day Assembly - 11.13.24

Our annual Veterans Day Assembly will take place on Wednesday, November 13th at 1:00 pm. We invite any current or former service members to join us for this special event for poems, music, and a video slideshow.


We need your help in creating our slideshow to honor the Veterans in our community. You can view last year's slideshow by clicking the orange link above. Unfortunately, the file with all of last year's photos was corrupted, so we need all photos to be resubmitted. Please submit your photos and information about your veterans BY CLICKING HERE. Our students love seeing their family members and friends in the video and we love celebrating our veterans!


LAST CHANCE TO SUBMIT YOUR VETERAN PHOTOS AND INFORMATION! PLEASE SUBMIT BY 12:00 PM ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11th.

Thanksgiving at CBI

One of our favorite traditions at CES returns on Wednesday, November 20th with our annual Thanksgiving Luncheon at Chatham Bars Inn. Many years ago, CES did not offer hot lunches. One of the chefs at CBI wanted to make sure that CES students received at least one hot lunch a year at school and the Thanksgiving Luncheon was created.


The incredibly generous staff at CBI hosts our entire school for a sit down Thanksgiving feast in their dining room. Students and staff dress up in their finest and enjoy a meal. Afterwards, the students sing for the staff at Chatham Bars Inn as thanks for the event.

Reporting Absences

Please call the Main Office at 508-945-5135 or use Pick Up Patrol to report student absences. Our classroom teachers are often unable to check their email prior to the start of school and the Main Office and Nurse's Office don't learn of the email before they begin calling home. Contacting the Main Office or using Pick Up Patrol are the best ways to inform the school of an absence.

CES Parent Teacher Organization

The Chatham Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (CES PTO) is looking for families and staff members to help plan and run school-wide events and fundraisers. Coming soon is the Annual Holiday Movie during the Chatham Stroll.


You can volunteer a little or a lot of time, any help is deeply appreciated and benefits all members of our community! We hope you will join us on Tuesday, November 19th at 6:00 pm in the Media Center to learn more about our plans for this year and how you can participate.

Hearts & Paws Service Dog Visit

On Tuesday, November 12th CES is excited to welcome Hearts & Paws to our school. Hearts and Paws is a non-profit organization that works with schools, libraries, and other venues. They share their amazing dogs to support those in our community. According to their website, " Being with our dogs helps both children and adults release stress, heal from emotional traumas, and simply feel better."


On Tuesday, representatives from Hearts and Paws will come to introduce their dogs and explain how the program works. We look forward to building a solid working relationship with this wonderful organization and their dogs!
