Update/ School News
- Another week in the books! Huge shoutout to Mr. Cheezum and the entire CRHS music program for an amazing band competition. I am always blown away by how well our school is represented at these events.
- SENIORS- On Monday, Jostens will be here to take Cap & Gown orders during all lunch shifts (down payment required if purchasing a package; if only ordering cap and gown, no payment is required at time of order)
CRHS will be administering PSATs on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. PSATs will be given to select 11th graders and all 10th graders. Students will receive an email next week informing them of their test administrator and testing location. It is important for all students taking the PSAT to come well-rested and have a positive attitude while taking the PSAT. Additionally, students should charge their school-assigned laptops the night before and bring their chargers with them to their testing location. This is is a great opportunity for students to participate in a FREE PSAT!
If you need service learning hours, email Mrs. Henry (henry.kara@ccpsstaff.org) to pack dental hygiene and vape prevention bags. 50 bags packed=2 hours.
There is no school on Friday!

September Students of the Month
Ashley Fleurissant is the TOUGH Student of the Month for the Class of 2028! Ashley was nominated twice this month. The first was from Ms. Dennis, who said: “Ashley emailed me a very well-crafted message to ask for assistance with a task. She then followed up with her appreciation afterward. She is going to crush her goals in high school! Keep it up!” Next, Ashley was recognized by Mr. Newberry. He recalled: “Ashley is such a great Colonel Tough student! She is working above and beyond in all her assignments. She shows great collaboration skills, in her group work. She puts thought into all her assignments and designs in class. With her group, she completed a catapult device to launch a bean bag across the room this week. She had well-sketched-out annotated plans! Keep up the great work, Ashley! So glad to have you in Engineering class!” Ashley had great things to say about all of her teachers: “Firstly, Mrs.Dennis is my favorite teacher because even though it feels as if we are being rushed she tries her best to help us understand what we are doing. Mr.Newburry because I love engineering and the fact that he allows us to be creative and even though he may not be my 'favorite' teacher, his class is something I really look forward to every day. Now Mrs. Bee is very understanding and I love how she cares for our well-being and puts that first, which I really look up to. Last, but not least, we have Mrs. Ozma. What I love about Mrs.Ozman is that she has great humor and isn't afraid to share stories about her life I also like how she calmly clocks tea like Mrs.Bee and can incorporate her stories with the the stories or articles we read. Ashley has big plans for her future. She wants to take Dual Enrollment classes, and AP courses, attend CCTC for Construction, complete an apprenticeship, and go to college for mechanical engineering. To her, being TOUGH means being “steadfast, strong, inspiring, and kindhearted.” She explains that it’s the combination of not letting daily stop you and lifting those around you.
Fun Fact: Ashley believes she can tell the future!
Colby Boyd is the TOUGH Student of the Month for the Class of 2027! Ms. Bradley nominated Colby for his work in music class, saying: “Colby has done a great job on his musical assessments and is working ahead on his piano skills! He is always ready for the next challenge and maintains a positive attitude even when facing a difficult assignment.” Colby’s favorite teacher so far is Ms. Bradley because she always works to make music fun. After high school, he plans to join the workforce and is considering working with his uncles in sales and later getting his CDL license. For Colby, being Colonel TOUGH means “being respectful to one another, reaching your goals and helping one another out. The most important part to me is to just always be kind.”
Fun Fact: Colby enjoys going to the gym and lifting weights!
Kendra Jones is the TOUGH Student of the Month for the Class of 2026! Throughout September, Kemdra was nominated twice by her teachers. Mrs. Burkett was the first to send a shout-out saying: “Kendra stands out as the student who has made the best first impression in English 11. Only 7 days into the school year, Kendra has already displayed diligence, determination, and compassion. Every day in English 11, she supports her classmates by checking in with them to clarify information and she supports her teacher by monitoring the hall pass usage and passing out papers. Kendra consistently has positive energy and is a joy to have in the classroom!” Later in the month, Mrs. France saw that Kendra was obtaining her goals. Mrs. France said: “Kendra has begun the new school year on a strong note. I was so excited to see her on the cheer team! Keep working hard and trying new things!!” Kendra’s favorite teacher throughout high school has been Mrs. Burkett because she always works to lift her up when she is feeling down. After high school, Kendra plans to become a nurse. For Kendra, being TOUGH means “you have to get your work in on time and be kind to others . The most important part for me is being kind to others. I love helping people out when they feel like they have nobody to talk to.”
Fun Fact: Kendra loves being in school activities!
Vanessa Odidika is the TOUGH Student of the Month for the Class of 2025! Mrs. Smith recognized Vanessa for going above and beyond. Mrs. Smith said: “Vanessa has consistently "gone above and beyond" to meet the high expectations she has for herself in AP Chemistry. She actively participated in all activities including using mathematics when solving the case of "Who Killed Mr. Jack Pott?" Mr. Shelly is her favorite teacher because “even on my worst days he can say something stupid to make me laugh.” After high school, Vanessa will study biology with plans to attend medical school and become a pediatric emergency physician. To her, being TOUGH means “to be a compassionate, hardworking, and well-rounded student. The most important part in my opinion is understanding diversity. Regardless of how different someone is from you, everyone deserves a friend.”
Fun Fact: Vanessa is a professional cat groomer!
