Message from Mrs. Phelan
Dear Lowell Families,
Happy April Vacation! I hope you enjoy the week off from school. When we return we'll be down to our last eight weeks of school. Student class placement will be at the top of our agenda. As always we invite you to give us feedback. If you have information that the classroom teacher may not be aware of, you may share via this form, no later than Monday, April 22nd. Please do not feel compelled to submit a form unless there is something beyond our knowledge you think will directly impact our work in creating a placement for your child. These forms will be shared with the teaching team as part of the placement determination process.
In order to support the needs of all children, requests for specific teachers will not be honored. Please do not request specific teachers by name. Additionally, please do not send requests to place your child with particular friends, as all students will be sent to their new class with “familiar faces.” However, if an older sibling has had a teacher and you would like to have your younger sibling have a different teacher, we will try our best to honor that request.
Whether you submit a form or not, you can be sure your child will be placed in a classroom in which he or she can grow academically, emotionally, and socially.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our wonderful school!
Have a fantastic weekend!
Best,
Stacy
Are You Moving Out of Watertown/Not Returning to Lowell?
If you are planning to move out of Watertown or the Lowell School District, please complete this form as soon as possible. This information helps us to accurately plan for the fall.
MCAS Dates
If your child was absent during any ELA MCAS sessions, they will do the test during the week after vacation.
All students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be taking MCAS on the following dates. Please plan ahead to ensure that students are in school and ready.
Grades 3, 4 and 5 - MATH Test
- Tuesday, May 7th
- Thursday, May 9th
Grade 5 only - SCIENCE Test
- Tuesday, May 14th
- Thursday, May 16th
All test sessions begin at 8:40 am.
Please make sure your child is at school on time. Students who arrive late may not be able to participate in the test session with their class. They will take that test session on a make-up test day.
Technology is not allowed while doing the test, so please ask your children to not bring smartwatches.
A good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast will positively impact your child’s test experience.
Encourage your child to take their time and do their best.

A Message from Adam Silverberg, World Language Coordinator
5th Grade Spanish Assessments
Students in 5th grade classrooms at each elementary school will be taking a speaking and listening assessment in Spanish during the last week of April or the first week of May. This assessment will take place during Spanish class, and the assessment should last 30-40 minutes. The assessment is meant to evaluate students' proficiency in Spanish. This assessment will provide the World Language Department valuable information about the trajectory of our program since it is now a completed K-5 program. If you would like more information, you can visit: https://www.languagetesting.com/lti-for-organizations/k-12-aappl to learn more about the AAPPL test. Please reach out to World Languages Coordinator Adam Silverberg (adam.silverberg@watertown.k12.ma.us) if you have questions.
Annual Lowell Walk-a-thon
Our students enjoyed an obstacle course during today's walkathon! It was fantastic to see them enjoying and having so much fun. Thanks to our P.E. teachers, Ms. Loguidice and Ms. Donahue, for carefully preparing everything! And thanks to our Specials teachers for supporting during the activity!
Have You Used FundHub Before?
